    Sesame Grill is my top choice whenever I'm craving for duck breast.

    The first time I came here was during Dine LA in winter 2017. I was so amazed by the duck breast! I came again last week also during Dine LA. They didn't disappoint me at all. Instead, I came for the duck breast twice a week because it's just so good!!!

    They just always make excellent food with affordable price. HANDS DOWN.

    Food quality is very good for the price. We had the lobster paster; good amount of lobster meat with good squid ink paster. The shrimp with risottos are well balanced as well. Crab cakes and fried shrimp are pretty good too. Finally the deserts are very decent, we love the lava cake. And according to the owner, they used to operate a French bakery before starting this restaurant. Overall, I highly recommend this place for dating or family gathering.

    From the first bite of the fresh bread to the last bite of cheesecake this was such a treat! The bread was fresh and warm and flavorful . The tuna appetizer was moist and succulent. The entree of seafood pasta was excellent. Finished the meal off with banana cheesecake. I generally only write about one review a year but this meal had my wife humming and I was unabashedly chair dancing! And this was only lunch. Ya gotta go.

    This is the " must eat " whenever we visit the area ! Not only the taste of the first is good, the quality of the food is superb. Angela is best with customer service. The best dishes are the Sand dabs, crunchy not the outside, tender on the inside. Pasta dish is very tasty. My friend had the pork chop and said it is really juicy. All their bread and desserts are homemade and the price is very very reasonable. It is really a gem in the neighborhood

    My golf friends come here about twice a month, Angela, the owner is always smiling and gracious.

    Visitor from out of town, two of us had dinner last night around 7. Service was super attentive. The booths were not yet full. It appeared that half of the restaurant was reserved for a party; so maybe on a regular night it is less crowded. Regardless, we got seated almost right away. I had the Ahi Tuna Tartare for my starter and enjoyed it. There were two prix fixed options but we ordered some of the daily specials without issue. Portions were about right for us (we normally find portions are too big at places). Finished off with a generous helping of ice cream.

    It's been awhile since I had an excellent cooked sea bass. The Chilean sea bass was excellent here, perfectly cooked and moist along with perfectly balance rosemary mash potatoes. Our other dish was their popular braised short ribs and certainly that didn't disappoint. It was extremely tender and flavorful. The dessert was also excellent. We went with their creme brle and it was a perfect finish to an excellent meal. We will definitely go back again in the near future.

    This restaurant really impressed me! I didn't really know what I expected when I got there, but I thoroughly enjoyed dinner there. The complimentary bread was soft and warm, and the wine list was decent. I had the filet mignon and I tried the sea bass, and both were cooked perfectly! Also, the service throughout the evening was impeccable! The waiter was so attentive and accommodating! My glass was never empty, and we got my food pretty quickly. The food, service, and atmosphere really made for a memorable night.

    Fruit flies attacked my wine all night! Not cool!! But the waiter was nice to replace my glass of wine when one of the fly made a landing into my wine. It's actually quite grossed. Loved their prices fix menu. For $29 I could easily spend that for the main entree. Instead I got appetizer, entree and dessert. My appetizer was tuna tartar, duck for dinner and crepe brle for dessert! Yippee!!!!!! Great jazzy music in the background.
    Slightly confused but they are trying to make it work with the Asian demographics of Arcadia. It's a niche, it's different. I have to give credit to them. The duck was simple which I like so I can taste the meat. Not seasoned much. The meat was cooked perfectly. Wished the creme brle top layer was crispy but it was not. That was why I gave them one less star. If you are going the French cuisine route you can't serve Asian style brle!! They are very smart though, the dessert was compensated with a large thin biscuit that was pretty tasty. If you use the cookie to scoop up the creme brle, it actually works!!! Okay okay I will give them a star. I still can't quite pinpoint how I feel about this place so I will give it a 4 stars. It's French but not really.
    The waiter tried to overcharge me with the higher fix amount of $50 vs $29. Hopefully it was an honest mistake. I will be back (maybe) though to try other things on the prix fix menu!!!

    My mother and I have been eating here for just about 10 years. I haven't thought to write a review until eating here just yesterday.

    The place looks largely the same as it had nearly a decade ago. The lighting and ambiance is a bit of a cross-over between a romantic restaurant, and a sports bar. While the bar may largely be in debate, the location of the TV in the main dining area was showing the basketball game.

    As for the food, my mother got the Seafood Pasta with Black Noodles - not sure of the name. She thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the Steak special, which was a 1lb of fillet mignon and rib-eye on the same chunk of bone with red wine reduction sauce, and served with some greens and mashed potatoes.

    My dish also came with a green salad, while my mothers came with a crab cake and shrimp crispy appetizer. The combination, also gave both of us a selection of dessert, to which we both chose the Creme Brulee.

    The Food 6/10:
    My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, however I do believe it needed slightly more seasoning.

    The Creme Brulee was heavenly - perfectly sweet, and perfectly torched. The added strawberry and fruits were delicious!

    The Service 8/10:
    Our server, has worked at Sesame Grill for 18 years. He was on top of everything, and was very wise.

    The Environment 6/10:
    While we were told that the atmosphere was to reflect a romantic restaurant. I'd say, that it is definitely a blend of something. I'd recommend for people to come eat here and make your own assessment!

    This is a solid place and the $29 prix fixe 3-course meal is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. The tuna tartar is my favorite appetizer, I just wish it was a bit larger. The three of us ordered different entrees (salmon/shrimp pasta, duck breast, and pork chops). I think the pasta was our overall fave. To conclude our meal we each chose a different dessert and let me tell you, the desserts were stellar! The panna cotta, flan, and chocolate cake were all to die for.

    Unassuming place located in a strip mall - from the exterior you wouldn't think much but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. Had the 3 course fixed lunch with chilean sea bass and it didn't disappoint. Good spot if you need a fancier spot for a working/business lunch.

    Came here for a big birthday party, and I was surprised that this little location fit such a big party.

    The food was good (not spectacular) and we all selected from the $29/person prix fixe menu. I ordered the tuna tare tare, the filet mignon medallions, and the chocolate cake. The dessert wasn't that great.

    I think the atmosphere was nice, and the water cups came in every different hue.

    This place is supposed to be French, so the portions were small.

    This place has been around for a long time - food has always been consistently good. Bread is amazing and freshly baked at the restaurant. It's Asian fusion style and the food is fresh and innovative. I especially enjoyed their prix fixe menu which was very affordable and had many fish and meat options.

    We came here for Christmas dinner in 2016, so yes it was a while back ago. I enjoyed the food here. I thought it had a fun menu, they served high quality dishes for sure. However, is it really an authentic French restaurant? Not really. It's more of a step-up from local HK-styled cafes rather than a really fancy restaurant. I guess everything tasted fine so I shouldn't complain but I felt that I wouldn't be served New York steak at a really fine restaurant. I really don't have much of a complaint but I guess my expectations were just a wee bit different.

    Came in for my wife's birthday today and had a great time. Food was good, nice ambiance and decor, and amazingly friendly staff. We felt their appreciation of having us dine at their restaurant and some of our friends have been coming here for over 15 years. If you have a birthday, definitely let them know ahead of time because they will definitely do something special. We have moved a little farther out but will definitely be coming back.     FOOD:

    -Bread: Their bread was perfectly fluffy and warm with a crispy exterior and soft interior. Not sure how bread can be so perfect.

    -Jumbo Lump Crabcake: Soft crabmeat on a bed of corn. Taste was ok.

    -Tiger Prawn Risotto: 3 huge pieces of perfectly grilled shrimp with flavorful risotto and spinach. You can't go wrong here.

    -Creme Brulee: I've had better and this was quite sweet, but otherwise pretty good.

    SERVICE: EXCELLENT

    Our waitress (older Asian woman) was welcoming, hilarious and attentive. At the end of our first course, where we almost licked our plates clean, she joked "How was it? I can tell you hated it". This has become an inside joke between my work BFF and I now. She also gave us dinner coupons for a return dining experience. Apparently, they are very popular for DineLA so they extended their menu until the weekend.

    ATMOSPHERE:

    Roots of when it was still serving Boiling Crab-esque food still exist from its paper covered tables and plastic water cups, but it is nonetheless a cute mom-and-pop place serving affordable seafood dishes.

    This was absolutely amazing! I'm a foodie and culinary novice and trust me this is just amazing food, plated well and cooked to perfection and service was attentive!     Took my parents here for dineLA since they extended it and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food for the price. All 3 courses were pretty good and my parents got the chance to talk to the owner after our meal. Apparently they are own a pastry shop in LA so their desserts are really high class and you can definitely taste the quality. Would definitely recommend coming back in the future for quality food for a reasonable price.

    Celebrated my wife's birthday here 2 nights ago. We briefly mentioned to the waiter that it's her birthday but really didn't expect anything in return. After our meal, they brought out an entire 8 inch tiramisu cake and sang happy birthday. What a generous gesture. We had Chilean sea bass, filet mignon medallion, braised short ribs, and linguini. All were excellent.

    First timer here for DineLA and I didn't know what to expect when I came here. I never heard of this place either and I wasn't sure what type of food it is either but since it was in Arcadia, I wanted to check it out. When I arrived here, I didn't know what to expect because I didn't look it up on Yelp or anything. There was no option to book a reservation online like most DineLA places but my friend and I came on a Sunday night and there was a good amount of people already in there.

    We were seated by a young girl who was super nice and super sweet. She made jokes and made me and my friend comfortable about eating there. The menu choices looked really good. There were more options on the actual menu than the one online on the DineLA website. There were two options for the DineLA menu, one was $29.99 and one was $49.99. My friend ordered the tuna tartare while I ordered the Fried Shrimp for our appetizers. Both presentations looked really nice and the tuna tartare was fresh. The sauce of the fried shrimp was good and complimented well with the meal.

    For our entree, I ordered the Linguine with Salmon and Shrimp and it was a creamy and filling. My friend ordered the 36 hr Braised Beef with Vegetables and Mash Potatoes. The beef was soft and came off really easily without even needing to cut into it. We both had leftovers and brought it home. We both ordered the Creme Brulee and it was kinda overly sweet for me. The fruits on the creme brulee was able to tone down the sweetness a bit.

    The shop is located in a small plaza with plenty of parking. Service here is great, I think the owners of the place speak Mandarin. I would probably come back here if it's DineLA again next time.

    It happened to be dineLA when I came here. The menu selection is good. I ordered crab cake, shrimp & salmon pasta and banana cheesecake. The food was better than I expected. The service was friendly and attentive. They have Chinese menu if needed. I would love to come back and dine again even when there is no dine LA.

    Come here for a DineLA lunch deal, enough food to fill you up and is a great value at $20 for 3 courses. Even though the place was packed, service was still quick.

    The meal started with complimentary warm french bread. This was tantalizing, it's been too long since I had warm from the oven bread with just simple butter on it. And the rolls are large (see picture). And the roll also pairs well with one of the DineLA appetizers, the vegetable soup. This is a misnomer, since it was a tomato bisque, rich and flavorful. The bowl is large (a pattern here), and by the end of this course I could have stopped and been content. The tuna tartare appetizer was plated cleanly, and the fish clearly fresh. Since there was no sauce on the tuna, the flavor of the fish came out on top. For the entree course, we got the Braished short rib and the Giant Prawns. The 36 hour braised short rib was delicious, cooked perfectly so that it came apart easily with a simple fork. Unfortunately the rest of the dish did not compare. The root vegetables were steamed without any seasoning, and the mashed potatoes had no hint of butter (how can you make mashed potatoes without butter?). So short rib good, veggies not so much. The Giant Prawns with cream jasmine rice was visually appealing, but was the opposite of the short rib. The prawns themselves lacked a strong flavor, while the cream jasmine rise underneath was tasty. The rice was similar to a risotto, with less cream. And it came with really thin crispy onions, a deep flavor that I want to learn how to prepare. The dessert course was a fitting end to the meal. Both plated nicely, the flourless callebaut chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and the creme brulee with fruit. The chocolate cake was dense, and the cocoa adding a grittiness to the dish. The vanilla bean ice cream was creamy and light. The Creme brulee was quite large, I think the top layer was caramelized earlier, the dish chilled and then served, but it was scrumptious nonetheless.

    Surprisingly good. I didn't know what to expect going in but I came out a fan. We did dine la and picked 29.99 option. There's another option for 39.99. I got tuna tartare and it was so fresh. The sauces didn't over power the fresh tuna taste. For my entree, I got the duck Breast. It was a bit dry and cold but I still ate it all. My friend got the salmon and that was really good. We had the chocolate cake and creme brle for dessert and both were delicious!!
    The hostess and wait staff were all very friendly and efficient. Good atmosphere, relaxing restaurant

    First night of Dine LA! We checked out Sesame Grill during dinner time and were seated immediately. The owner comes around and introduces some of their chef recommendations so that was really nice.

    I ended up getting the rigatoni shrimp while my mom got their dine LA $30 dinner which came with a choice of an appetizer, main dish, and dessert.

    We started with their vegetable soup which was on the thicker side but it was perfect with the bread they serve you in the beginning. My mom's pork chop was cooked to perfection and had great flavor and was easy to cut. My rigatoni shrimp was very nice as well, not overly seasoned, and they make the noodles themselves so it was really fresh (a little on the hard side but I didn't mind!)

    We finished with my mom's dine LA dessert, we chose the chocolate cake, and it was a small rectangle of cake which wasn't anything special. It wasn't too sweet and they paired it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and three meringues. I would definitely choose another dessert if I go the next time because the cake seemed like something you could get at Ralph's.

    Overall, great service and good food! They even gave us some bread to go!!

    - Burrata with Aged Balsamic Vinegar + EVOO: delicious! the arugula's bitterness balances well with the creaminess from the burrata.
    - 36 hr Braised Beef with Vegetables: delicious! soft and flavorful. i ended up taking a portion of it home and it was just as delicious when i reheated it.
    - Flan -- TOO SWEET. yuck. The caramel sauce was too surgar-y and completely over powered the egg pudding.

    Would come back again if I was in the area but do not actively crave to eat here.

    The food is kind of fusion between American and French. But you know they cater to Asian folks because they have a menu translated. There is a lunch and dinner menu. This review is for dinner.

    My parents ordered from the pre fixe menu. They were stuffed by dessert which was a pleasant surprise since usually the portions are smaller. The rest of us ordered from the dinner menu.

    Food was really delicious. I don't think you could go wrong with these classics!

    Service. This is what stood out to me. The staff was really attentive to us. It was also a plus that one staff (she might be the owner?) was able to speak canto (Chinese) to my parents and explained some of the French influenced dishes. She also explained how this restaurant has been in business for over 20 years. Wow! That's impressive and I'm actually not surprised. When she found out it was my mom's birthday, they brought out a decent sized tiramisu cake and sang to my mom. You could tell my mom was pleasantly surprised. It was also a dessert overload since she got to try the creme brle from the pre fixe menu and the tiramisu :)

    A hidden treasure in a retail strip center but Oh how wonderful is the food!!! French/ asian menu
    with all items cooked fresh and presented beautifully! There are great daily lunch specials, a regular diverse lunch menu and fixed price specials for the super hungry. The staff is helpful and friendly. The restaurant has white table cloths and wine if you dare. Prices are very good for the quality of the food. Plenty of parking but go early or later for ease of finding a spot close. I may be sorry for sharing this ( may Yelp myself out of a seat here) ...but...if you havent tried it...your missing out!     It's great nice restaurant in the local area. They have a prix fixe dinners where you can choose appetizer, entree, and dessert. The short ribs and tiramisu are probably what I get here most often. Everything taste fresh and delicious.

    Service is always good and its a great place to take the kids. Most fancy restaurants try to squeeze in as many tables and chairs as possible so its hard to take the kids, but not this one. Its nice and spacious where you can fit a high chair and an Ipad and not have it take up the whole table.

    I don't know why I haven't tried this place sooner. I mean, there's a reason why they have been around for so long. I wasn't sure what I wanted to try so I was glad they had a variety of prix fixe options to choose from.

    Appetizers:
    -Roasted Marrow Bone with Beef Shank Marmalade (This went very well together, I enjoyed it but pretty heavy)
    -Beef Carpaccio

    Prix Fixe:
    1. Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and Crispy Shrimp (loved the shrimp, I wanted more!)
    2. Duck two ways: Pan Roasted Maple Leaf Duck Breast (sauce was good)
    and Homemade Duck Confit (delicious and flavorful) I was really surprised how much I enjoyed these two items
    3. Crme Brulee (okay)

    Other Entrees
    -Rib eye steak was their daily special (wasn't a big fan)

    I would definitely come back here. I would want to try other items but I would be tempted to get the same stuff I've already tried since I liked them so much. We ordered a bit too much food for two people but I was excited to eat the left overs the next day. The service was great, they were very attentive and there is plenty of parking in this plaza.

    I LOVE the Pork Chop here, the best tasting one I've had by far. It is very juicy and flavorful! I also recommend the Panna Cotta, an Italian creamy dessert. I would definitely come back.

    I have been dining at Sesame grill a couple times before, and now I cannot help but write a review (because today is my lucky day)!!!
    FYI, the item is OFF MENU because the supply is limited and you need to call in to check if it is available!
    And it happened today yeah!
    First we ordered the beef carpaccio and the fresh fruit smoothie, it has peach and watermelon perfect for a hot summer evening. I like the aged parmesan cheese, which pairs well with the arugular and beef. We added a escargot, the flavor is rich with garlic, the meat is juicy and tender. I can tell the quality, simply by the complimentary bread, it goes well with the garlic olive oil of the escargot.
    Now here it is - the fried catfish !!! Yum! The skin is so crispy! I can taste the freshness of the fish. I am in heaven.
    And lastly, we had the pana cota! Smooth and creamy!

    Decided to try this place with one of my Best friends for Dine La.
    *Excellent* service. Quick and attentive.
    They had a 3 course menu for $49 (?) and a dine LA menu($29) also 3 course.
    Food was pretty good.
    Crab cakes were flavorful, Burrata and arugula tasted fresh. Duck breast (was a little dry), and 36 hr braised short rib (so tender!) I enjoyed the panna cotta, but flan was WAY too sweet.
    Decor is very dated but clean. Definitely worth trying.

    This review is based on 2 recent visits during Dine LA.

    It's been over a decade since I've been here. Even though I've driven by them dozens of times, it just completely slipped my mind.But recently, we noticed they participated in Dine LA, and being about 5 minutes away, it was an easy decision.

    We came here twice within one week. First time, we arrived around 11:45. Most of the tables were taken but we were seated quickly. Menus were brought over, and one of the servers who speaks both Chinese & English told us the specials that aren't on the Dine LA menu, for a small surcharge. We already knew what we wanted:

    Appetizers: Crab cake and a tuna tartare. Both were nicely plated, had good flavor and tasted like fresh ingredients were used. But the tuna tartare was served with a few pieces of over-fried soft chips that seemed stale. We didn't use those, it just didn't pair well with the tartare.

    Main: Filet mignon medallions and a 36 hour braised short rib. The filets were incredibly tender, had good flavor and sat on a small mound of mashed potatoes. The short rib was also very tender, easily split with a fork so the steak knife was unnecessary. It was a bit fatty.

    Desserts: Creme brulee, served with a pirouette cookie and a few berries for color. Sweet, creamy and nice torched crust on top. The banana cheesecake was simply regular cheesecake with 3 slices of bananas & cream on top. We thought it was banana flavored cheesecake. Still, pretty good, rich and satisfying.

    Service was prompt and friendly. A 4 star experience

    2nd visit was a bit different:
    We brought more people and ordered some of the same items. The appetizers were the same and consistent. Nice colorful plating and good flavor, with the same old stale chips next to the tartare.

    For the main: We had the filet medallions again, and like the first time, still good. Also tried their linguine with salmon and shrimp. Fairly small order, but the salmon was super tender and the shrimp were big. Decent flavor, but maybe a little parsley & fresh ground pepper would've added a bit extra. The Colossal Shrimp had 4 pieces of large shrimp with the shell split open. A little messy to eat but tasty. Not the best value in my opinion.

    Desserts: Again, went with the banana cheesecake and creme brulee, but also tried their chocolate cake, which was a small slice of bittersweet cake topped with 3 colorful meringue cones. Not bad but it's quite bitter compared to the other 2 desserts.

    Service this time was fine, until it got busier. We were ignored after the main course and waited about 20 minutes for them to clear our table and bring on dessert, even though the staff walked by us several times. I had to eventually flag someone down.

    Also, they brought out 3 of the 4 desserts, and we waited nearly 10 minutes before I had to remind them there's one missing. The girl server walked by and simply dropped off the check with no eye contact, smiles or 'thank you' ... just walked away.

    On top of that, there was construction next door, so the sounds of hammering, power drills and heavy machinery added to the ambiance. This time, it can't be more than a 3 star.

    If this is what we experienced on our first visit, I doubt we'll be back, but I'm going to just assume it's Dine LA week and they became incredibly busy, and next door's noise was not their fault.

    Notes:

    * Shared parking lot with many other businesses, so it may get packed during busy hours.
    * Reservations are available for 6 or more
    * Try to arrive before their lunch and dinner rushes. You'll be seated, serviced faster and less of a chance you'll get ignored. Lunch rush appears to be from around 12:15 to 1:30. Haven't been there for dinner yet.
    * Menus (at least for Dine LA) are also available in Chinese to serve the local demographics. One of the servers (owner?) is tri-lingual.

    This place has opened for more than twenty years, so it's probably a good time to write a review instead of just eating there.

    I came here to celebrate my birthday and the overall experience was great. The menu was explained in detail with recommendations. Since I was in a group of six, we decided to all order different things so we can taste all the dishes.

    The pork chop was tender, highly recommend.
    The sea bass, Salmon, and filet Mignon was made just right
    The squid pasta with lobster had a flavor the was balanced.

    Since it was my birthday, they even gave a free Tiramisu cake.. A whole cake.

    This place is of all things located in a strip mall and you would never expect what you find inside. This place is amazing. The prices are reasonable the service is the best ever. The food is delicious and the presentation of each plate is beautiful. I have been here several times and have never been disappointed.     Sesame Grill offers an astonishing menu of foods that are pleasing to the eye and palate. I went here with a young child and we all ordered something different and enjoyed our meal. This restaurant is a quaint little spot that will surprise you. It is located in a small shopping center in Arcadia and you don't want to pass this wonderful spot.     We have eaten a this wonderful, small restaurant in Arcadia on numerous occasion. The menu is creative and everything has been wonderful mix of Asian, french and CA cuisine. Truly "fusion." Best of all is the efforts put forth, in the presentation. It reminds my of dining in New York or Paris, where the quality, variety and presentation of the meal are all equally important.Sesame Grill has become, one of my favorites and we one that we frequent several times each month.

    What a great surprise to find this elegant, fine little restaurant in a strip mall! Although the menu was initially a bit confusing...and caused some early sticker shock, we soon discovered that food here is a great value. The presentation was outstanding, the flavor very good, and the service wonderful.

    I had the best Chilian sea bass at sesame grill, & my boyfriend had the best Cow Boy steak ( ribeye) there. the presentation of the food was " wow wow ". it was like the piece of Art, really delicate. we can tell how hard the chef works on each dish. the sauce on my sea bass was like "heaven", it is creamy but not heavy and plus the freshness of the sea bass. it was a wonderful combination. YUM YUM it truly worth the 28 bucks. the" cow boy that my boy friend had was juice, tender and chef red wine sauce on top was perfect for the steak. we had great time there every time we went.     I thoroughly enjoy Sesame Grill's food; it's one of my favorite restaurants. Their french-style vegetable soup is cream of vegetable, and I usually come here when I'm particularly hungry because the soup, complimentary buns, and my entree fill me up. Their steamed clams appetizer is delicious, and the soup the clams come in is great for dipping some of the buns in. I have rarely been disappointed with the entrees, and lately they've added some new appetizers and entrees, such as crab cakes and paninis. As for dessert, their tiramisu is among one of the best I've ever tasted. I recommend coming here for lunch special as well as early bird specials =)

    just discovered this place with my gf.since we just moved into the neighborhood we thought we would try it.i see some of the other reviews,but i didnt experience the changeup but what i did experince here was a mighty warm welcome and a waitress who knew everything on the menu in fact i think she was the owner.i did'nt have a bad thing here my steak was cooked perfectly,the shrimp caesar was soooooo good the flavor balance was spot on.the calamari where pretty good as well but the crabcakes stole the show for me.they were not chunky but they where not slopy and the flavor again was just bursting out of the cakes!!!!!!:) the menu seems to change here and this was my first time here,i highly recomend you try this place it is gormet american-french clean and fancy food without the pretentousness of the west side ;0)) right up my alley!!!i will def. be going back here as i love the owners motto "i promise it not only looks good it taste good to"!!!;0)) dont hesitate get up on that boys n girls!!!

    Went with a bunch of friends yesterday for lunch. All of us haven't try this place for a while now and wanted to see if the food is still as good as it used to be. I am happy to say that the quality is still great and the service is excellent. I love the fresh breads and they go very well with my linguini with clams. I didn't like their fruit tea that much though, it is a bit too sweet for me, but overall, the experience was wonderful and I definitely will go back there again.

    We were there on Father's Day and luckily we made a reservation first so we didn't have to wait when we got there. They have early bird special price for dinner if you order by 6:15pm and that would save you like $3 off their regular prices. The food was excellent and the service we got was wonderful.     Our family and I come to this place a lot because we all agree that they offer delicious fusion food with a elegant decor at a reasonable price! Their service is fast, courteous, and top notch. They greet you with a smile while you enter and sit down, kindly present their daily specials, and offerings. I am really surprised to learn the fact that the owner is Asian because usually you don't get that kind of top notch service at a traditional Asian-run restaurants (no offense). Their food is of top quality and the portions are generous. They are made of fresh ingredients and prepared in traditional French/European fashion. Food is presented nicely on plates that you will think you are in a 5-star restaurant in Beverly Hills. Sometimes I wonder how they maintain their quality with the price we pay. Recently tried their pork filet glazed with some sort of house special marinated sauce after they changed their lunch menu- still delicious!     I happen to find this gem by accident. It is a great buy for the price. You get to experience some fancy looking food at a fraction of the price. The owner is great and very accommodating. We tried 3 different main dishes: Linguine with shrimp and scallops, Fillet Mignon medallions and shrimp prawns and crab cakes. All were delicious. The portions are not Claim Jumper size, but the meals are accompanied with a salad and soup. The dinner rolls are great, very fresh and tasty. The only negative is the parking.     I stopped in to Sesame Grill expecting your basic California Asian fusion thingy. What a great surprise. The food is AMAZING.

    It looks completely unassuming from the outside. It's in your typical L.A. strip mall, nothing spectacular. But once you get inside, it becomes obvious that it isn't a typical strip mall type of restaurant.

    The decor is modern and matches the cuisine very well. The menu is extensive and diverse. The food is absolutely delicious. Service is good and speedy.

    I love taking people there for the first time because they're ALWAYS surprised at how great it is.

    Prices are very reasonable, cheaper than most high end restaurants with food that's just as good, if not better.

    First time there, as we were heading to Maki Sushi. Maki was packed, so tried this place. Wasn't sure what kind of resturant it was....but my wife got the lobster and I the lamb chops. Great attentive service, crab cake/ tuna was perfect, main dish was very tasty and teramisu was excellent. $124.00 later, I felt like it was a great experince. I'll come back.

    It's lodged next to a Starbucks around the corner, but we must forsake our Yelp-elitist notions regarding quality by association. After all, So Cal thrives in catering strip-mall convenience. But don't let the entrance fool you. I was assuming it was a very small hole-in-the-wall with a modest family-style atmosphere and a maintainable crowd, so neither did I expect the place to take up two restaurant spaces, nor the Sunday afternoon lunch crowd. However, there was no wait. A plus. Because I was told that it's a fusion restaurant, I expected less Asian customers and more Caucasian patrons, and more Asian cuisine than American, but my presumptions were very preconceived. I think there are many regulars frequenting this place, and why wouldn't there be? I had a positive experience.

    I could see that the restaurant was trying to hold down the fusion identity that most people are familiar with. I find it inviting and, yes, even fun, while others might find it to be a blowhard attempt in creating an atmosphere that isn't there. The decor is sleek and modern, Ikea-clean as someone has already claimed, with po-mo paintings on the walls to brighten up the room, some pictures to observe while sipping your chai when you or your guests run out of things to talk about, but nothing that are too provocative or refreshing, though. Regardless, I admire when a restaurant has character, or at least tries to provide an ambience for a better dining experience.

    Moving on to the menu and food, their selection is simple. Everything you would expect at a fusion restaurant, a blending of cultural tastes. And yes, they serve pasta here. Very moderately priced (which is always a plus about Asian restaurants). You also get what you expect, no surprises here. So when you order, say, chicken with linguine in white wine sauce, you get chicken, linguine and a light, buttery white wine sauce.

    Another plus for this restaurant: the presentation. That is just as important as the food. You want something to look good as much as it should smell good. This fish dish (try saying that five times) was served on a clean, white plate with halved cherry tomatoes as garnish to add color (the dish was very colorful, actually, with other things topping it, very pleasing to the artistic and/or hungry eye). And observing the dishes the servers were bringing to the other tables, I almost wished the patrons would not touch them until they could fully appreciate the neatness of the presentation. It is an art form. For color I got broccolis as garnish (in hindsight I think they were garnish, because they weren't full cooked, but regardless, I ate it anyway). My pasta dish was served neatly in a decorative platter that was as po-mo as the paintings on the wall. See, there's a theme going on.

    How did the food taste? Delightful. The flavor was simple. As I've said, I got what I ordered: chicken, linguine, white wine sauce. I don't mean simple as in nothing more to offer than a bland nudging of the taste buds; rather, they didn't overpower my dish with an unmentioned herb or too much white wine in the sauce. I also sampled the shrimp ravioli, and that was interesting. Not sure if they used pasta dough or dumpling dough (which I suspected but it made the texture softer and added a twist), but it's apropos. After all, it's fusion, right? And the shrimp stuffing was sweet. Not a shrimp fan, but hey, I'll eat it up when it's done the way it was done at this joint. Oh yes, let me not forget about the bread, so soft and moist---it might as well have melted in my mouth like butter.

    So if my experience was such a great one, why only four stars? Well, the service seemed "perfunctory." They welcome you, take your order, serve your food, and bring you your check. Some may like the aloofness, others like more personable service. I am in-between. I wished the server would have stopped by just to check in once or twice, because I might have wanted my platter to be warmer, or some other problem could have arose. Someone did come by once to refill the water glass, but that wasn't until I had finished my meal (or was at the end of it). Again, like food, service is subjective. If I could give half a star for the service, I would give it just because the host actually opened the door as my party and I were leaving. Now that's service.

    I have been going to Sesame Grill for at least 8 years. I have had many a good meal there. It was the first place that I enjoyed Foie Gras at. When I was living in Pasadena I found myself there all the time for dinner. Now that I live in San Gabriel I find that I am not there as much as I would like to be. After having lunch there this past Sunday I remembered why I love this place. First off is the wait staff, they all do a great job but I would like to highlight Chris. He is a great guy that makes every meal enjoyable, even after I have heard the same jokes several times.

    For lunch, the lunch specials are the way to go. The Venete Salad is terrific. Same goes for the Chinese Chicken Salad or the Supreme Salad with wine poached pears, walnuts and bleu cheese. The Caprese salad or Chicken Dumplings make for a great starter. The Orange Crispy Chicken is also great . I prefer to ask to make it extra spicy for me which they gladly do. For dinner the pastas are well done and the Crispy Catfish is outstanding. The whole fish is deep fried with a great sauce to go with it. For dessert get the creme brulee. It is soooo good. Again, this place is great for a local fusion place in San Gabriel Valley. Recommended.

    Lunch is good for a quick bite, on a just above price range. Food is just above average during lunch. They specialize in their seafood, and it's a french, chinese fusion. Service is good and has always been good. I ate there when they first opened and stopped going after they got over-rated and became too full of themselves. But in the last couple of yeayrs, they've come back down to earth. :-)

    Dinner on the other hand is superb! It's a little pricey, but very exquiste pallete. The real flavors and ingredients come out at night. I think the prices are a little higher, which gives the chef more room to use his full creativeness. The seafood is great, always good selections, covered with saffron or truffles, the good stuff. The patte, is amazing, it's a duck patte with pear, and a sweat and sour syrup, with sprinkes of nuts. It's superb! it's a little pricey at $24 for jsut an appetizer, but it's well worth it, if you like patte.
    All in all, it's a good place to frequent for something different. Portions aren't large, and prices are reasonable.

    Great service here, very warm reception. Food is good but not amazing. i ordered a fresh grape juice, which is made by resturant, and it was very very very good! i will try the other fruit juice next time. i also ordered escargot and foie gras for appetizer. the escargot, i liked. its rich in flavor and with a asian twist, so its not too oily. the foie gras could've been beter, although the sauce that went with it was pretty good. For entree i had the baby lamb rack, which is their special that day. It is pretty decent. My boyfriend ordered chicken linguini but it was just average. For desert we had a hazelnut softcake with carmel sauce, it was rich and creamy, but also very sweet if u eat too much of it.

    overall, the place is great for romantic dinner and european food with an asian twist. definitely try the dishes they recommend

    This is my second time here but first time leaving a comment because this place is that good. Went there on a Friday night for dinner. I had 3 appetizers French Garlic Escargot, Crab Cake, Tuna Tartare. Entree Filet Mignon. Dessert Green Tea Ice Cream. Every bite was so good, I ate every last piece on every dish. Everything was cook to perfection. I ordered Filet Mignon well done and it was not dry, it was very tender, juicy inside and the temperature inside the meat was so perfect. The temperature in the food itself was to perfection. Their green tea ice cream was real unlike the ones taste like powder. A friend ordered their Chocolate cake. I don't eat sweet but decided to try it from my friend. It was the real deal. It wasn't super sweet and the best part is, it is so fluffy that can't even taste the flour. I love this place and hope it will be consistent and continue with doing a great job because I plan to have a birthday party for a friend there. Btw I think the price is reasonable for good food like this.

    Sesame Grill is one of our very favorite restaurants!!! In fact, we just celebrated our birthdays there (my husband and I are one day apart) and it was top notch as usual. Angela, the owner, is always on hand to make sure that everything goes perfectly and the wait staff is superb--especially Chris. I adore the Chilean Sea Bass with gorgeous potatoes and small vegetables. My husband had the special three course dinner featuring a beautiful French vegetable soup, medallions of beef and including a dessert of your choice. He selected the banana cheesecake (which I would never have selected since I am not a cheesecake fan). The cheesecake was magnificent! It was the first time in my life I ever enjoyed cheesecake and I will order it next time. I was so surprised that I asked Angela about it and she said they make a very light version. I'm having cheesecake next time too. We always celebrate our birthdays and anniversary at Sesame because the food is so beautifully done. I had the pleasure many years ago of attending a one week cooking class with Simone Beck in the south of France and appreciate fine food.

    i thought it was a nice experience. american style, asian owned. that's y it's asian fusion i guess? service was okie if i rmbr. besides that one of the server accidently tossed our pasta away when we actually wanted to take it to go. weird..but they're generous enough to cook a new one for us to take home. (i mean, that's wat they're supposed to do, right?) the presentation and taste of the food are fairly good. i guess it's something different than those commercial brand restaurants. it's a nice experience. the lobster pasta was one of the better pastas i had. rack of lamb and the ribeye were grilled nicely. i just like the presentation of the food.

    overall, for the price of the food and atmosphere, it's worth a try. but how come i never went back there? i dunno....

    I like this place! I've been coming here since it first opened, but haven't been as much lately b/c I'm the only one in my family that likes this place. I convinced my mom to come with me yesterday for lunch. Dinner seems unreasonable for their pricing.

    I always get the chilled calamari for the 1st course, I can't find anywhere else that makes it like this, b/c its usually friend.
    I had the shrimp mezzaluna which was ok.... I prefer their regular menu items more I think. The bread they give you here is really god warm! it's flaky on top and dense inside but very soft.. if you eat it warm at least. I kind of forget about the bread once the first course comes though.

    Overall, I like coming here for lunch, it's in like a strip mall/plaza area on Huntington and it's a nice chance from the regular restaurants that line Huntington.

    I don't know how long this will go on, but the waitress gave us coupons for steak and LOBSTER for $19.99 or something, I can't resist lobster so I'll be back for that lovely offer :)

The waiter/waitress always make sure they mention the price of the specials so they make it easy to choose. There're also pre-fixe menus. I like their meat better than pasta.     I am curious about the wide spectrum in reviews this place has received. I wonder if it has to do with the chef you end up with. I myself have experienced what seemed to be a noticeable difference in the quality of the food between visits, yet still the food was good for the price. Our assumption was that it might depend on which chef you end up with. Our dinner experience seemed to be better than the lunch experience.

    The prices can be higher than your typical restaurant, but the quality of the food is also higher than your typical restaurant.

    There is a particular host there who is so much fun and we love to see her every time we go there. She makes the dinning experience very fun and enjoyable.

    The deserts here are glorious! They are all extremely delicious! One of the few places that we make it a point to save room for desert.

    I was at this place quite awhile ago (last year), but I had a great experience and the food was wonderful!

    We went there after hitting the track...and apparently so did everyone else. Heads up...if you're going there for dinner, either get there early or definitely make reservations.

    However, for as busy as they were, we got waited on quickly once we got a table and really have absolutely no complaints. Their food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive. My friend had either a steak or beef medallions that were so tender you could cut them with a fork, and I had fish in saffron sauce...both were amazing.

My Husband went last week with a business associate and informed me that the have a whole new menu, so this past Saturday he took the whole family and I was VERY pleased with the food and as always the service was Excellent! I guess you can compare the Menu to The Broiling Crab...but 10 times better and without the wait, the fish is VERY fresh its a MUST try!!! BTW a good selection of ICE COLD BEERS.

    So a friend and I were going to head over to BJ's Restaurant on a late Saturday night ...bad idea. Place was packed with people pouring out into the parking lot waiting. So we look across the parking lot and see Sesame Grill...lucky for us. This place was fantastic. Seriously , it doesnt look like much on the outside, but the food and service were top notch. However, filet was soooo good. Cooked perfect. Had some crab cakes and shrimp apetizers. Loved them all. The bread kept coming and was so good I had to slow down on to save room fro the entree. Bottom line, for the same price we would have paid at across the street, we got a top end meal for retail chain pricing. Will be back for sure !

    I can't believe this place is averaging 3 stars. I was thinking about giving this place 5, but I think 4 is reasonable.

    There aren't many cantonese/french cuisine out there, so this place is sort of one of a kind in the area. I found the service and presentation were great, and their setting nice. I like how they serve all dishes at once so no one is waiting, and how the food is hot since it is fresh off the pan.

    I see some complaints that it is a bit pricey, but I think those complaints are coming from asians who are used to paying 6 bucks for lunch and a few bucks more for dinner. This place gives proper portions, so there won't be any left overs, but the quality is excellent. When you compare this place to normal italian/french restaurants this place is a great value.

    I tried 5 dishes and appetizers here, and there were all fantastic. The 2 desserts were also very good. So, it appears the food here is consistently good. I definitely would plan on coming back for a 2nd try, but might stick with lunch only.

    This place is amazing; it's portions are great, the food's even better! I come here with my family for almost every big holiday/event. The staff is super friendly and the service here is just as great!
    It gets a little crowded here around lunch and dinner time, but the wait is worth it! I can't help but rave about it all the time!

    In my opinion, most of the previous reviews were pretty right on. The Sesame Grill is an understated restaurant with a name that doesn't do it justice. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was surprisingly great. The braised short ribs were generous in portion size and both salmon and orange roughy were fresh and cooked to perfection. I salute the chef for creating a simple yet strong menu with some of the most competitive prices I've seen. Not being from the area, I was pleased to find this gem of a restaurant and wasn't surprised by the crowd that had filled it by the time we were finished.

    Sesame Grill has been a family favorite for a long time. As much as we enjoyed the experiment into Cajun style seafood, we are glad to say, Sesame Grill is back! The food is prepared exceptionally well, meat and seafood cooked perfectly. We even noticed that they added two new desserts! They kept a few Cajun items for their new friends, and brought back the old for their existing friends. Give them a try and I'm sure you will find something you love like my family has.

    Went here on Sunday with my bf for dinner. When he first said let's go to "Sesame Grill, it's a fusion place on Huntington", I was thinking, is this like a fast food joint? The name just didn't sound great. But, I was a good sport and said sure!

    We're driving there and it's in a strip mall, albeit with other little restaurants, but I really didn't expect anything fancy.

    We open the door and I'm like wow, this is not what I expected...looked like a decent wine selection and relatively fancy decor.

    The menu wasn't quite "fusion" as my bf would call it but it did have a lot of my favorite yummy french/american dishes.

    I ordered the dinner special: filet mignon medallions, grilled shrimp, clam chowder, and salmon pasta, all for $19.99...that's a deal. He had the bone in tenderloin special which was great and we shared the fried calamari appetizer.

    He also got a fresh fruit smoothie and I got a Thai iced tea (totally random with that meal but both very good)

    overall, everything was great, the servers were attentive, and yes, the free bread was good and no one switched them on us. I tried not to stuff myself on it anyway so that I could enjoy my meal.

    This place is okay for food, but for dessert and coffee it is the best! Their desserts are beautiful and delicious. I've had the lemon mousse (AMAZING, MY FAV. TO ORDER) creme brule (really good, nice and crispy on top), and the cheesecake (delicious)
    The only think I've had to eat here was the chinese chicken salad, and it was alright. I only go to this place when I'm in the mood for delicious/fancy desserts. Prices are good for what you get.

    Hmm delicious! Very romantic and comfy restaurant--good place for a date ;) We ordered the escargot, pork chop, salmon and tiramisu. The flavors were carefully balanced and fresh. Escargot was so warm and just the right amount of yummy garlic. Portions are fair; the owner is very friendly and attentive. I didn't think the bread was spectacular like everyone claims but the tiramisu may just be the best I've ever had.

    I came here for lunch. My server blitzed me with the specials. His accent made it difficult to understand. I would have ordered the white fish special, but I went with the salmon instead because it came with mashed potatoes.     I've been coming here for several years now and I'm a little confused as to why I haven't already written a review.
    This place is honestly a 4.5/5, but the consistency and service bumps it up to in my book.
    My most recent visit was for the Mother's Day Special. It was $30 a person for the prixe fixe 3- course meal.
    Complimentary Bread is always a warm pillow of carbs that we all love. yum.
    New York Clam Chowder- I'm not picky with clam chowder (the only time I ever have it is usually at Souplantation across the street) but this clam chowder was significantly tastier.
    Salad- I've always appreciated that they use actual greens instead of just lettuce. Their dressings are always bomb.
    Crab cake- I don't like crab. But I really enjoyed their crab cake with the mayo(?) sauce.
    For the main course: You could have chosen Fillet Mignon, Seafood Pasta, and Orange Roughy (chicken)
    I went out of my comfort zone and ordered the pasta which was packed with clams, scallops, octopus, all drenched in a light garlic sauce. Highly recommend.
    We also got a panna cotta on the house because they charged us for a drink we didn't order. Great service in my book, since the best desserts are free desserts.

    Highly recommend. Get a reservation on special occasions to avoid 15-30 minute waits.

    Most of the restaurants on the Huntington drive restaurant row on the border of Arcadia and Monrovia are the nice chain restaurants but you can find a few local establishments buried among them. Sesame Grill is one of these hidden gems and is probably the nicest restaurant in the area.

    The food is a fusion of California / American / Asian with a definite French influence in the preparation and presentation. Though you can get reasonably priced meals at Sesame Grill, I often opt for the specials which frequently run into the $30+ range.

    Any of the appetizers can be added with a dinner order for only $2. On our latest visit we tried the iced raspberry chai tea which is so thick it's practically a smoothie and is a pleasant treat.

    They appear to have a good selection of wines. This was where I discovered good aged tawny port desert wine which I'm a big fan of now.

    Sesame Grill is perfect for a date night with low lighting, somewhat fancy atmosphere, and a big "how did you ever find this place?" factor.

    Came here for lunch yesterday. They have a 3 course special .... the crab cake (appetizer) was great, a lot of crab, not a lot of filler. The salmon had a light sauce that was exquisite. And the mashed potatoes were soooo tasty! I had the flourless chocolate cake, not usually one of my favorites, but this one was to die for!!! The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Sesame Grill. We will be back .... often :)

    One of the best French/Chinese fusion I have. Unlike other french restaurant, the cost per person will usually be $40-50 per person without wine, you can easily get away in Sesame Grill for about $20-30 per person. I have been here twice, different waitress each time and they all recommend different items. However, both times I am happy with the food and the service.     This place has been around for ages, but I've only come here twice. It's definitely a staple on Huntington. The service here is great--everyone I interacted with was super-friendly, and our waiter was a marvel in service. He did his whole spiel in a mix of Chinese and English, which is like the unofficial language of my family.

    Bread - so good. It's soft without being mushy, and it's just slightly crispy on the outside. Both baskets we had smelled fresh out of the oven, and I could have filled up on just that.

    We all got the $19.95 dinner special - 2 of us got salads, one got the clam chowder. For mains we got the scottish salmon, the shrimp and scallops pasta in white wine sauce, and the filet mignon medallions. The salads were both good, although mine had an uneven distribution of dressing. The clam chowder was very smooth, it went the route of tiny bits of potato and clam rather than huge chunks. My filet mignon was perfect. It came with a little mound of mashed potatoes (delish) and some baby vegetables (not so delish). The salmon was HUGE and also came beached on a mound of mashed potatoes. The pasta was really rich and strong--I'm not sure I would have been able to finish it.

    We got a California Peach cocktail and a free dessert of strawberry ice cream with "Happy Birthday" written in fudge that was pretty good (I mean, it's free ice cream). They make all of their cocktails with HAN, which is some weird rice wine version of non-hard alcohol. It was okay in the beginning, but it just got too syrupy and sweet at the end for me to finish.

    It looks like there are a lot of regulars here, and it's a pretty safe place to bring a date or dinner companion. They play light jazz over the speakers, and despite it being an open kitchen, you never really hear any loud noises from them.

    I have heard people rant and rave about Sesame Grill for years, but never tried it, so when my boyfriend suggested it for lunch I was optimistic to try it out.

    The Bread is excellent! It came out warm and tasted delicious.

    The Starters were really affordable and just enough. I read all the reviews stating there wasn't enough food, but how much are these people needing to eat? I had the Shrimp Cocktail. The presentation was great, and it tasted fresh, no complaints. It came over a bed of fresh spring greens with a very tasty vinaigrette dressing, so far so good.

    As for my main course, I stuck with a safe Chicken Caeser Salad. It was really, really, exceptional. The Chicken was tender and delicious, with a very nice peppery taste and it complemented the salad dressing very well. The only real off remark I can make is that there was a little bit too much dressing on the salad and after awhile it was pretty overpowering, not to mention my boyfriend ordered pasta and after he finished it, there was still a ton of sauce left over and everyone knows a ton of sauce means your hiding something, and it seemed to me, to be really unneccesary, because everything was delightful.

    In all, the service was excellent and entertaining. Guests arriving all seemed to know the servers and be really happy to be there. The food was good, and surprisingly affordable. I would definitely go back.

    Sesame Grill is a great bistro that serves a variety of interesting food. Everytime I've been, all the people I have been with have liked their meals.
    The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the portions are smaller than I would prefer, not necessarily a bad thing, but I like to eat alot! You can load up on their tasty bread to fill you up, which is a good enough reason to go there.

    First time coming to Sesame Grill for my Birthday dinner! We made a good decision coming here. The decoration is nice. The quality of the food was amazing and quite delicious. We mentioned yelp and we got $25 for three course meal. We love every single dish including the drink. The bread was so delicious. I couldn't stop eating the bread and almost made me full already before I tried the main dish. The cranberry wine sauce duck was so moist and yummy. The linguine with jumbo shrimps & scallops was so delicious.

    The service is five stars. Waiters were always attentive and nice. The owner/manager is fantastic. She explained everything what they have. I can't believe she can talk a lot. She gifted me Italian Gelato (ice-cream) after she found out it's my birthday. They sang happy birthday song for me. INCREDIBLE!!!! I didn't even expect that much.

    I would recommend this restaurant and I will definitely go back there again!

    My husband and I came for dinner last night. It was excellent. The owner and staff were very pleasant and attentive. The bread they serve was hot and delicious. My husband had the sea bass and said it was wonderful, tender and flavorful. I had the shrimp appetizer. It was crispy and delicious. For my main entree, I had the grilled shrimp in the pepper cream sauce. Very nice. This was accompanied by a very nice bottle of chilled white wine. For dessert we had the orange creme brle. Very light. My husband was very impressed by the plates and the overall presentation of each dish served. I think this is one of the best resturants in Arcadia.

    I don't understand some of the negative reviews of this place, especially about the bread which is served hot out of the oven, made fresh in house! My pet peave is room temp bread that restaurants can't even bring themselves to serve warm b/c its too much trouble.

    Anyhow, everything I've had here from the salad to escargot to fish have always been so fresh! The menu is eclectic b/c the chef/owner must be serving what he loves to make and eat which means its going to be good.

    Came here tonight for dineLA menu --- $45: scallops, Chilean seabass, and panna cotta. All EXCELLENT! Cooked perfectly! The sauces are so yummy... I think there's French influence in the sauces. My brother had crab cake and crispy shrimp (best shrimp ever!). The lamb chops are succulent and again, the sauce! Wow! Even tiramusu was so good! This is definitely a gem in Arcadia.     I had dinner here a while back, and remembered the food was quite good, so a friend and I were driving near and we both screamed Sesame Grill! We were starving, and so happy when they plopped two warm Italian rolls down with some soft butter. It was freshly baked and had an interesting slightly salty taste. It was very good.

    We had cantalope w/proscruitto, filet of sole with lobster sauce, shrimp cocktail, and chicken linguine. Everything was delicious and abundant. The filet of sole was cut into cubes, sauteed crisp with a rich(too rich) lobster sauce, and served atop home mashed potatoes. I absolutely loved the crispness of the sole filet; it was buttery and tasty--I felt like I was back in HongKong! The salad was lightly dressed and wonderful. My friend's linguine n chix was a little messy, but the chicken was tender and flavorful. The food was nicely presented, though the dishes seem to be a little mismatched. Cheapskates, we ordered water. The service was wonderful and we kept looking at what the other tables ordered. Apparently, the salads seem to be popular.

    Our lunch came out to about $20, for terrific food and service--that's a bargain, unless you eat at subway everyday. I usually tip 15%, but I tipped 20 this time. I will be back sooner next time around!

    Yum Yum! What a wonderful little place. It serves up some wonderful Asian/European fusion and the wait staff is incredibly courteous. Very chatty but not to a point where you want them to just disappear. Just friendly banter that makes you smile.

    Came here on a Friday night and boy is this place rather romantic at night. The food presentation is lovely and the food is scrumptious. I feasted on the Tuna Salad, which comes with a bed of greens - the tuna is served raw and is a little more like sushi. The boy had the salmon which came with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. The fillet was delicious and the portion was very generous for the price at about $15. To share we got appetizers which were very nicely priced at $2.50 each. Regularly they're $5 if you don't buy an entre. We had the shrimp cocktail and chicken dumplings. The chicken dumplings were delicious but the shrimp cocktail was lacking. Although the presentation was nice it wasn't anything I couldn't throw together at home. My suggestion is do not pay the full $5 for this plate.

    Otherwise its not bad at all and its a wonderful little spot to share a romantic night with someone special.

    We're back to Sesame Grill, Arcadia, CA! It had been a number of years since we dined at Sesame Grill. We are delighted at the dining experiences we have had! Sesame Grill has changed their menu. We have recently eaten their featured lunch and dinner specials and have been pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food, reasonable prices, and wonderful service.     WARNING: On special days, such as holidays, you must make a reservation!

    This place is fair in size. I would have to guess that they can seat about 75 at one time? Which really means make sure you get a reservation if you plan to go there around special days as stated above.

    The price is expensive. If you come here, expect to spend at least $35.00 per person.

    The choices of wine are limited, but the choices are pretty good, although I'm in no way the best person to ask about wine. They've got a raymond reserve merlot and alma rosa pinot nior. I've tried some others, but these two are good for me with a steak.

    On to the food! Their fish is probably what they do the best. Orange roughy has a light citrus flavor that seems to be pretty easy and light on the senses. The salmon, my favorite, has crispy skin, but really juicy meat. It might be one of my favorite places for salmon.

    Their meats are done very well. They have a dry aged rib-eye that is seriously packed with flavor and I think is about 16-18 oz. It has a good sauce that doesn't take away from the flavor of the meat and is complimented by mashed potatoes and veggies on the side. Also, the lamb was surprisingly not gamey at all.

    Overall, it's a good place for a nice dinner with really nice waiters and waitresses with good service. Just expect to spend quite a bit. You can do a party size of 14, just make sure they know you're coming. Otherwise, it would be a good date place.

    This place is FANTASTIC. I've been coming here for years now and their food never disappoints! In fact, my little siblings and I were so pleasantly surprised when all our four entrees came out in less than ten minutes! Like I said, the food is SUPERB and there isn't a single thing that I can say that isn't great. If you're in the area, Sesame Grill is a must!

    I could see how the prices here get pricey during nighttime...but for lunch... what a deal! Yeah, it's more pricey than your standard asian cafe spot, but this place is totally different. I ordered the mixed baby greens as an appetizer and the salmon for my entree. Both were prepared very nicely. The salmon was very juicy. I really liked the citrus sauce. For 9-10 dollars, that's a pretty good price. Another dish that I thought was excellent is the Duck. The duck is lean, tender meat...where the heck do you ever get LEAN duck meat? If you order this at a chinese place, they'll give you a pile of duck fat.

    I had a very enjoyable experience here. The service was excellent, food was good, and prices were very reasonable. 4 stars for a great lunch.

    I think this place is really good!!! Anything you order here I think is pretty good and fresh. I've personally tried seafood pescatore and its delicious and the seafood is fresh. Their steak salad is really good as well. But the bread they give in the beginning is really fresh and yummyyyy. Decently priced place and more on the dark romantic side. Service is great but the Waiter is a perv. I went with my gf and the waiter just kept saying weird jokes to us. He seems harmless but weird hahaha.

    Went to Sesame Grill again last night because I was craving for the golden brown and delicious dinner rolls. Here's what we ordered:

    Appetizer:
    Shrimp Cocktail: fresh, cooked just right, tangy cock tail sauce, perfect!!! It's very hard to find good shrimp cocktail. Most places either over cook the shrimp or it's bland.

    Entrees:
    Curry shrimp: vibrant colors, distinct and rich curry flavor, served with steammed veggies and jasmin rice. Yum!!!
    Chicken Linguini with white wine garlic sauce: the best chicken linguini boyfriend and I have ever had. It's our second time to this restaurant and our second time ordering it! It's light and packed with flavor! Not only the chicken is tender and juicy, the linguini is very tasty as well! 5 stars!!

    Dessert:
    Apple Tart: not a traditional apple tart. The apple is TART and still has a nice crunch. It's sweetened by the brown sugar cinnamon sauce, topped with vanilla icecream. Great balance of flavor. Exactly what I imagined it would be.

    Ambience:
    Quiet, intimate, cozy and comfortable. Great for dates! It's hard to tell what the restaurant is like from the outside. It's truely a hidden gem! the staff are friendly. The owners are very nice people and appreciate their customers.

    They have extensive specials that's not on the menu. We have not tried those yet. Everything we ordered were from the menu. Still got a lot to try and I look forward to trying out other dishes!!

    Okay... maybe it's just me...but I LOVE THIS PLACE.

    I know it may be out of the ordinary to some, it was a unique and different experience for me. They are a very small location and tend to get busy quickly during rush hours. Though I came with a bunch of dooshbags, that didn't stop me from enjoying myself from the food. (I hate it when I have people complaining to me left and right).

    Fusion of any type catches my interest, so this wouldn't be an exception.

    The service wasn't awesome, but it's okay I can tell they tried. They were late with our food, got some orders wrong and hardly came by to refill drinks. The owner was so nice enough, he gave us free desert. I shall be coming back in the future.

    Edit: okay I may be mistaken, I was told this was fusion... looked like it when I came here, but seems to be AMERICAN. One of my favorites as well though.

    the bread comes out warm. it's like a huge flat biscuit with spreadable butter. they also have balsamic vinegar and olive oil if you ask.

    no braised short ribs. they crossed it off the menu. boo..

    most of the table had pasta. i think their linguine was the best.

    i had the roasted pork tenderloin again. it was good but not as tender as the last time. plus, i don't like my mashed potato through a food processor with sooo much butter. i prefer mashies from places like cheesecake factory.

    Oh my goodness, what can I say. First time being here, so I wasn't expecting too much.

    We were promptly seated at an average sized booth in a darker area of the restaurant near the back. When our specials arrived, our waiter was barely able to fit them all onto the table. Then a few minutes later, the manager comes over and she offers us to move to a bigger table. The best part was, she and another waiter literally moved everything for us to our new table, literally; plates, cups, utensils, food,etc.. Honestly, it was something I'd never forget.Their service truly is top notch.

    The food, hmm...
    The food was pretty good, but some dishes weren't to my taste. But hey, that's just me. The desserts brought a huge smile to my face, it was delicious! Seriously! The owner was even kind enough to give our table free ice cream! Definitely one way to please a customer, and the tiramisu is definitely a must try. The price is a tad expensive, but overall, I had a pleasant experience. All in all, I'd come back again.

    We've been coming here from time to time. It's pricey, but the quality of food is worth the price. Our family came here for Mother's day celebration (well Sat instead of Sunday to avoid the crowd). We went in around 6:00pm to get a table. No problem with reservation made 45 min. before. Around 7:00pm there's a crowd waiting outside. It's not typical, but it's Mother's day, right. If you don't do well during Mother's day weekend, do you really want to go there for dinners?

    The food is French, Italian, and Asian fusion. Foie gras is small, but it's expensive. The bread is the bomb. It's always hot and fluffy. My brother told me that they keep in a rice cooker to keep it warm. I'm not sure that's true and I have to see it for myself. It's always taste fresh every time I go there. I ordered the Mother's day special with a chowder as soup, a small crab cake salad, and an 8 oz filet mignon. Soup was creamy, the salad was small but ok, the filet mignon was really tasty. It's 29.95. Again, it's not a cheap place, but the food is worth the price.

    In the end, it's around $50.00 per person with tips and tax. Come here once in a while is okay. Maybe lunch is less expensive, but I'm never in the neighborhood to try lunch.

    The owner, Angela (I think that's her name), is a nice lady. Very hands-on. The staff is good too, but on a busy day like Mother's day, they can be under staff.

    My mom has been coming here for 10+ years.

    Me, not so much because I live all the way in Ontario, but since she's still in the area, she goes all the time. But I remember she would take me all the time when I was little.

    We love the atmosphere here, very simple, yet funky. Clean, and comfortable. The service is great, everyone is very attentive.

    I love the lobster ravioli, all the soups are fantastic, and delicious bread.

    A must try is definitely the tiramisu. Probably one of the best I've had.

    The food is always consistent and good quality and the service is always personable. A few years ago, I held my graduation ceremony here. The owner was kind and accommodating to tailor a customized menu from appetizers to desserts for me; and within my price range too.

    Since then, I have been back a few times and each time I ordered different entrees and everything is good. The menu is reasonably priced too. Although the restaurant's decor is a bit 90's and dated, but they definitely make it up with service and reasonably-priced tasty food!

    Not being familiar with the area, my husband and I just happened to stop by the Sesame Grill for lunch. What an absolute find! Their lunch special is soooo reasonable ($9.95) and the food was scrumptious. My husband had the Chicken Scallopini with a side of Vegetable Rolls, and I had the Sole as my main entre with a side of Shrimp. Each meal also came with Coleslaw and Homemade Soup, Rolls and Butter - - - The value is truly incredible! But not only does this restaurant offer absolutely delicious food at a great price, it goes one step further to provide a lovely setting where their guests can truly "dine" and not just "eat." The White Linen Tablecloths, the Background Music, the very professional Blk/Wht Dressed Waiters, the Ample Wine Glasses, the White Doylies on the Plates, and the Ambiance all added up to a very memorable lunch. The next time we find ourselves in California, we are sure to make a special trip to dine at what has become one of our favorite restaurants!

    This is my second review of this restaurant.

    Previously, I've reported on my last visit to this restaurant, which turned out to be a total disappointment. However, because this was one of our favorite restaurants around the 626 area, my mom and I went back to give it another chance.

    Right when we stepped in, we were greeted by familiar faces, the same people who we saw every time we eat here, except our last visit. At first I was very iffy about coming here again but my mom convinced me. When we saw the usual waitress, waiter, and owner, who we were used to seeing, we knew we were in good hands.

    Let's start with the food:
    1) The bread was fresh and hot out of the oven! The butter melted the moment I spread it on the bread.
    2) The salad looked as great as it tasted!
    3) We had crab cakes as appetizer and they were so much better than last time's!! They were soft, juicy, and flavorful. A great lead into our delicious entrees!
    4) My coffee was freshly brewed and aromatic. Usually I drink only one cup of coffee at other places, but today I had to ask them to refill my cup because it tasted so good. And that was just their regular hot coffee. I usually get their peach smoothie, which is very refreshing, but today was a cold day so I went for a hot coffee instead.
    5) Entree #1: Cowboy Steak (medium) - I usually order the filet mignon medallions but the waitress and owner recommended this steak instead. All I can say is...THANK YOU for making the right decision for me!!! This piece of steak was cooked to perfection!! The sauce was perfect and the meat was cooked with the insides pink and juicy! I was savoring every bite and I couldn't believe how the steak oozed out delicious juice in my mouth with each bite. I felt like I was in food heaven!! But then came........
    5) Entree #2: Baked Cheese Whole Lobster!! - This was the waitress and owner's highly recommended dish and OMG OMG OMG...I honestly have never ever tasted lobster as yummy as this one and trust me, I've tried lobster cooked in many different ways in my life..but never like this! The creaminess of the sauce...the juicy fresh lobster meat.....OMG.....I don't even know how to describe it, you must try it for yourself!! I know it's an expensive dish, but if you're picky about food and would do anything for delicious food, then you have to try this!! You will not be disappointed!!! My last review stated how my mom was disappointed by the lobster with pasta she had and that the lobster wasn't even fresh, but after my mom confronted the owner about this, they have done a lot of improvements! The lobster was just beyond PERFECT today!! And knowing how seriously they take their customers and how meticulous they are about their food, this is definitely a permanent improvement! The creamy sauce for the lobster was so good that I dipped the mashed potato (a side that came with the lobster and steak) into the sauce and it enhanced the taste of the mashed potatoes. If you have the money to spend and want to indulge, this is your best choice! I usually never finish my plate but this time, my mom and I left only a piece of bone, lobster shell, and a bit of veggies left on the plate. I was even amazed at how we finished the two whole entrees!! They were THAT delicious!!
    6) Dessert time - I usually opt out of desserts in fear of gaining too much weight, but their desserts are one of their specialties because they're actually professionally trained. So my mom and I had a Vanilla Panna Cotta & tiramisu. The Vanilla Panna Cotta was made of real vanilla and was in a pool of red juicy something, I didn't quite pinpoint the taste, and surrounded by berries. This is the perfect way to end the evening. The texture was kind like tofu+pudding. It wasn't too sweet, which I liked because I don't like things too sweet. If you're torn about which dessert to get, TRY THIS ONE!!! Your taste buds will thank you!! The tiramisu was also very very good!! but I liked the Vanilla Panna Cotta even more!!
    Now...the service.......for many, this is a very important part of restaurant experience. I know for me it is. My last review was for the new waitress, but this one is for the waitress, who has served us every previous visit, plus the female owner. Here you will experience the kind of great service you will get at all the high-end restaurants, if not even better. They take their time to introduce their specials and specialties. They're very friendly, warm, and welcoming. I know this sounds normal for restaurant service, but trust me, you don't get this kind of service anywhere. I know that service quality might go down a bit when it gets too busy...but that's understandable. I believe they're trying their best to make sure every customer leaves happy and satisfied. =] I know I walked out with a stuffed belly, satisfied taste buds, and a big smile across my face!!

    Today's experience renewed this place as one of my favorite restaurants! I'm so glad I came back!! ^^

    Been coming to Sesame Grill for many years now. The same waiter has served us with consistent courtesy and grace. The food is a very good value. Great place for a casual dinner (with a hint of fine dining) at a good price.

    The bread is delish, the cowboy ribeye is decent, and the escargots cooked to perfection. We've hosted a few small dinner parties here without a hitch as well.

    This place has my vote.

    I've been coming here for nearly 10 years with my family. It's an amazing place and the prices are still insanely reasonable. The atmosphere is nice and the service is always wonderful. The whole staff is welcoming and polite. The food is soooooo good. I know everyone loves the bread here, and it's for a good reason. It's always fresh and hot and soft. The dishes are always beautiful and they give you a good amount. Not too little but also not too much. I wish I could be more specific, but Dotty down there described everything I felt and more. It's just a really nice place and I don't understand how people say they like the food here and then give it 3 stars. 4 is good, and 5 is amazing. 3 is so so. This place is definitely not so so. The manager is so sweet and very accomodating. The girl who greets you is super welcoming and also very sweet. My family's favorite server, Chris, is the best. He's so friendly and jovial and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. I wish I could come here every day :(

    As a new year begins, we continue enjoying the food, the friendly service and the ambience at Sesame Grill. Chris, one of our favorite servers who's known us for years, greets us with warmth and the owner welcomes us as family. The ambience is upbeat and sophisticated and artfully done. When you come, be sure to notice the glass work on the ceiling. The booths are cozy and intimate. The food is fresh and delicious and there is always something on the menu to appeal to a variety of tastes. We usually enjoy their soup, the nice hot bread fresh out of the oven and different dishes. Last night, I enjoyed the pasta primavera and my husband had his favorite, filet of sole. The prices are great and Sesame Grill consistently deserves five stars!

    I've been coming to Sesame Grill for years now and I leave satisfied every time. To start you off, they serve a yummy bread roll that's always hot, which I love.

    Order the prix fixe... for $2.50 more you can add on calamari, shrimp cocktail, or a salad or soup... a fave with some of my friends is the chicken dumplings as well.

    I usually get one of the pastas with pink sauce. The sauce is sooo good! Salmon is a good choice as well... it always tastes fresh.

    Finally, the desserts are amazing here! They are really artistic with their presentations. The tiramisu is GREAT... they're really popular here. Try the lemon mouse... it is SO beautiful with all the colorful fruit sauces and really light and delicious as well.

    Food is great. Service is great. A must try.

    My wife and I enjoy coming to Sesame Grill when we're looking for quality food that will not break the bank. It's a casual/upscale atmosphere, which makes it very comfortable. The service is always great here and you can tell that the owners really care about their customers. The food is good (I especially like the bread that comes out in the beginning...piping hot!) and it always comes out in a timely manner. I just tried the banana cheesecake and it was delicious!! My wife likes going with the prix fixe menu and enjoys the steak and burrata. Come try it out!

    I'm giving it a 5-star review because it so unexpectedly amazing! The place has a very fancy/romantic-esque feel to it. The food itself was marvelous!

    One-Inch Thick pork chop: super juicy all the way through, something that many places fail to do, especially with a piece of meat that was legitimately one inch thick.

    Pasta with Pink sauce (not sure if the real name): was pretty good. It was on the lighter side, something i wasn't used to when eating pasta, but was a good surprise. Ingredients tasted fresh, pasta wasn't too heavy and flavor-blasted.

    Crab Cake: super soft, warm, and very flavorful! Too bad the portion for this was just one tiny oval (from the prix fixe menu), but it was so good!

    Flourless chocolate cake: 5 star dish all on its own. you get a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, the AMAZING cake, and some whipped cream on the side. I wouldn't even call this cake because it was so soft, it was pretty much eating a warm mousse! It went well with the ice cream. Again, wasn't too heavy which was good because I never want to feel uncomfortably stuffed.

    The lady also gave us a complimentary scoop of their (what I thought was) pralines 'n cream ice cream, it was o-k, nothing too spectacular about that.

    They've gone through a couple changes in the past year or so and I'd say they're at a sweet spot right now that will have customers flocking in!

    What a pleasant surprise! Just a little place in a nondescript strip mall but oh! the food is delightful. The restaurant is very clean and the service is excellent! They have several lunch choices at approximately 10.00 and all of them are wonderful. One thinks Asian when they see the name...and there are a few Asian items on the menu...they describe themselves as French and many of the items on the menu are Italian...Go figure! Went to this place with a large group and we couldn't have been any more pleased with it. I had looked for a menu on line and found one...however, it was not the menu that is used in the restaurant...so don't be mislead...Stop by and try it and you have to love it! By the way....some of us ladies could make a meal out of just the French Vegetable soup and their homemade rolls....Wonderfull!!! They should have that combo on their menu...

    Food/Cost: (3.5/5) The food here is delicious and well priced. I've returned often and gotten hardy cravings for those complimentary fresh rolls ($0 hurray!) that they serve up. Those rolls -- oh my -- fluffy goodness encased in a beautifully crunchy shell. Simply pair it with the butter, and prepare for happiness. On my most recent visit we got the Escargot ($12.95) to share, I ordered the Shrimp Ravioli ($13.95), and finished off with the Panna Cotta ($5.95?) and the Baked Alaska ($6.95?). My friend got one of the daily specials (hint: these specials are always really good) -- the Veal. The escargot okay; I felt it was a bit steeply priced and a bit too chewy. I've gotten raviolis here multiple times, from the lobster to chicken to shrimp, and they've all been solid choices. They're a hybrid of Italian raviolis and Chinese dumplings, but more a big dumpling. I had a bit of my friend's veal and it was great; the meat was tender and juicy so that I could really appreciate the natural sweetness of the meat. As for dessert, the panna cotta was light and refreshing, with an accompaniment of figs, strawberry, and raspberry. The Baked Alaska started off well. The waiter lit the meringue alit at the table, which was entertaining and cool. It featured a delightful strawberry ice cream inside. But its downfall was the alcohol that the waiter poured over the meringue in order to light it. The alcohol was left swimming on the sides of the meringue and much got absorbed by the cake on the bottom; this left us with an extremely strong and unwelcome alcohol taste at the end. I'd have liked the dessert minus the alcohol, despite the cool flame presentation. Still, despite a few faults here and there, the dishes here are delicious. A few of my other common choices here are the calamari or tuna tartare as starters, and the scalloppines. All delicious.

    Ambiance: (3/5) There are always diners here when I come, but nothing which would require a reservation. When I came for dinner around 7:30 pm on a Wednesday, the restaurant was about 75% full, which is fantastic for a weekday, I think. I must speak about the decor. I'm not a fan -- its confused and outdated. If they would just redo the tangibles at the restaurant, I would consider giving Sesame Grill 5 stars. Right now, the classy hopeful is primarily outfitted with what I'll call retro random. At night, there's some sort of bluish/purplish neon lighting emanating from the booth divider. The booths are covered with a outdated pattern that is completely different from the two-toned chairs. The ceiling features some awkward, blob shapes from which the lighting extends. There's a string of rope lights weaving along exposed shelves. There are also mismatching decorative items sitting around the restaurant, e.g. a big winking owl (cute, but conflicts with the ambiance). In addition, the plates are mismatched. Mismatching plates can work at some quirky, eclectic establishments, but I don't think it works here. I understand redecorating can cost a hefty buck, but they should really make the investment. The menu is already a hodgepodge of cultures; if the restaurant decor at least presents a cohesive, unified front, it would really bring a sense of focus to the restaurant and highlight the already delicious food.

It sits amid a bunch of other shops and food establishment in the corner of one plaza -- the one with Starbucks and BJs. This part of Huntington Blvd area is well lit and bustling during mealtimes. Parking is plentiful in the plaza.

    Service: (5/5) You're certain to be treated courteously here. The service here is always attentive and friendly. If you get one particular male waiter, the service borders on silly as he loves to joke and smile with the patrons -- all the while doing his job though.

    Overall: (4/5) I'd actually recommend lunching here are the prices are much lower and the choices are still wide-ranging. Dinners are good too, but your bill can easily run high, especially if you're looking to get drinks, starters, and desserts. However, the food and service here is consistently stellar and my frequent returns are testament enough. I have no qualms about giving Sesame Grill its well-deserved 4 stars.

    Celebrated my mom's birthday tonight. We've been coming here on and off for years. We were pleased by the new decor ( it used to be very dark). Staff was attentive and even provided a cake for us on the house!

    We were very pleased with the food : had the Chilean sea bass (love!), pan seared duck (good), and baked lobster seafood pasta (my mom loved this dish). We ordered two different prix fix menus and one entree. I noticed they added $ next to the menu, too. The last time I was here, I don't remember prices on the chef selection menu. Nice for people who are on a budget. They even have a $28 prixe fix menu!

    The owners are constantly trying to improve their menu and our wonderful evening was proof of their success.

    For dessert we had the panna cotta (perfect!), tiramisu (yum!), and the cake they made us.

    Overall, great food, great evening without having to drive to Pasadena!

    In celebration of my pa's birthday, he wanted to come here for dinner. Since Sesame Grill leans on the more expensive side (at least in comparison to surrounding restaurants), my family and I usually come here for special occasions.

    The food is always so well-prepared and mighty delicious. My order of the Grilled Crab Cakes and Tiger Shrimps from $19.95 prix fixe menu was, for the most part, perfect! The crab cakes were a bit too salty for my taste buds, but I could have eaten the tiger shrimps all day. Mmm. The fresh fruit hot tea is also a must-order. The chopped up fresh fruit in the teapot gives the tea a natural sweetness that leaves me oh so happy!

    The server had accidentally taken the wrong order for my mum so she was left waiting while all of us had already gotten our food. The manager was very apologetic about the whole thing and even offered, not one, but TWO free desserts! We only ordered one since me and my family were pretty stuffed already. The manager kept apologizing and saying it was their fault for messing up. When my dad said it was okay, she replied back with "wow you're too nice. Why aren''t you mad? You should be mad! We messed up!" My family could have gotten frustrated and thrown a huge fit, but the manager's sincere attitude and willingness to fix the situation made it impossible to be upset.

    Even with the longer wait for my mom to get the right dish, I'm sure my family will want to come back to celebrate other occasions.That's cause it's all thanks to great customer service.

    Wow was I surprised by this gem in Arcadia! I was expecting a Chinese place or a Japanese grill by the name but its a French influenced Fine dining establishment!!! To start with, the bread is warm and pillowy and you have to be careful to save room for dinner!!! Everyone got an appetizer and not one was disappointing. The tuna was fresh and didn't even need soy sauce. The crispy shrimp are to die for!! They are wrapped in like lo mein and fried to perfection. We had several salads at the table and they had crisp rockett and a house dressing so scrumptios that I had to restrain myself from licking the plate. Our main courses came out with haste and we had sea bass, salmon, filet, lamb and shrimp. The filet was delectable with a nice sauce, cooked perfectly and had some lush mashed potatoes. All the plates would get perfect points on Chopped for presentation with sauces and sides all in shapes and painted lines. The lamb was textbook medium rare and not at all tough or gamey. I was told the salmon was #amazing (yes, that was the review). I didn't get to try it because the ordered scarfed it down!! The Sea bass was above average. Moist and delicate, not at all fishy with a nice crust. I would say the only thing I wouldn't get again was the jumbo prawn. The risotto that came with it was yum city but the shrimp were just a hair underdone for me. They were just barely translucent and tasted very fresh but I prefer my shrimp well cooked. We also ha a bevy of desserts. The panna cotta was creamy, could have been a bit firmer. There were some cakes and some green tea ice cream as well and we will jut say that there wasn't a bite left. Next time you're leaving the races, don't waste time waiting at the Derby, head across the street to Sesame Grill!!

    I've been coming here for years. Consistently great food- my faves are the escargot, chilean sea bass, lobster and steak. The decor, although unfortunately tacky, lowers the potential pretentiousness usually found in fusion restaurants.

    The food is well-presented yet filling and comforting to eat. The staff is friendly and checks on your table just enough, not too frequently. The menu has been the same for as long as I can remember and I hope they never take away their staples.

    If I could change one thing, it would just be the general decor and layout. It's the only reason I hesitate to bring company to this restaurant.

    Btw, I can eat their bread for days and days and days.

    I love and totally get this place. I used to come here as a wee-lad for special occasions. And I'm glad they are doing well because now I come here quite often. Let me recant that. I come here really often. Bad day? Let's go to Sesame Grill!

    This is an Italian restaurant with an Asian take to it. From the calamari to the pastas to the sometimes available surf/turf, I can see the Asian influence.

    The green seafood pasta is probably my most ordered dish. The ravioli plate is actually 3 gigantic raviolis. It's really huge. The baked penne is really cheesy, so make sure you know before you order. I had to take half home to finish later because it was yummy but large-portioned.

    I wish they had a rewards card so I could rack up the visits. Then I'd know just how many times I've enjoyed the Grill.

    Went here during Dine LA. We made reservations so we were seated right away, parking can be a pain in the rear since it's a busy area so come a little bit early. Ok so let's start with appetizers, we chose scallops and crab cakes and fried shrimp, just appetizers alone you're already full, they were awesome! They're kinda pricey on a regular day so i'm glad we're there for dine LA haha. Our main course was Lobster and steak and my date ordered Sea bass, i added 10 more dollar to have the lobster but boy it was sooooooo good, melts in your mouth good :) my steak was perfect too, they're sea bass was superb too! We have no more room for dessert by the time we're done with our main course, we managed to just eat our creme brulee but have to get our tiramisu to go. No complaints about food here and we're definitely coming back. Service was great too. The only reason i didn't give them 5 star was due the fact that i had this feeling that they're trying to be fine dining but they're not :( . It was a good experience though.

    Came here for dinner tonight and had a really fun time! We ordered a lot of the specials that night. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and I liked their clam chowder, tuna tartare, lamb chops, and orange creme brulee. Clam chowder is not as creamy, but makes up for it in flavor (wasn't in the mood for thick creamy soups that night. But if that's what you like, I think the mushroom chowder is the way to go)

    Jazz music played all night and the atmosphere made the dinner special. Not sure I'd come back THAT often because of the price, but definitely for special occasions.

    I come here quite often with my family for lunch, usually after church on Sunday afternoons. We've been coming to this restaurant for years (I honestly feel it's been like 10 years already)

    The service has always been wonderful here. The owner is very polite and friendly. On two separate occasions my meal has been comp'ed by her. The first was a kitchen error and they offered to change it, but I said it was ok. They comp'ed the dish and brought me a dessert. The second time I was unhappy with my dish, but didn't complain. She noticed that I had barely eaten any and inquired about it. She then comp'ed my dish and brought out a dessert. That is definitely quality service.

    I was a bigger fan of their older menu with the first course for only like $1.50 (?) with an entree. They have a lot of new dishes now, but I still like to stick to my classics (i.e. Fresh Grilled Salmon in citrus vinaigrette over mashed potatoes or chicken marsala)

    Awe, I'm so sad this restaurant only has 3 stars! I LOVE SESAME GRILL! This is seriously one of my favorite spots in Arcadia. My family has been friends with the owners before I was even born, so my family and I loooove this restaurant. I tend to tweak my order according to how I like it. I usually order the grilled salmon but instead of the regular sauce they use for it, I ask for lemon caper sauce, which in my opinion, tastes wayyy better. :) The steak salad is great and oooomg, one time, there was duck for the dinner special of the night. SOOOO GOOD!!! They haven't offered it again though :(

    If you like seafood, I would def. suggest trying the Chilled Calamari as an appetizer. I know it sounds totally gross to some people, but I assure you, it doesn't taste fishy. It's absolutely delicious! They use this sesame oil-soy sauce and drizzle it over the calamari, which gives it a whole new taste!

    One thing you HAVE to try before leaving? Their infamous TIRAMISU cake. I'm not even kidding. You have not had tiramisu until youve had Sesame Grill's.

    We were racking our brain to find a decent place for a good but not expensive steak for my father-in-law in the San Gabriel Valley, and I finally said how about the Sesame Grill. I have never been disappointed with my food there, even though they've changed to a more expensive menu. They still have great specials.

    My wife got the live lobster, and it was delicious. For a pound and a half, it was incredibly meaty and had that taste that only comes with a freshly killed animal. My father-in-law got the venison, and although it was a only a two or three pieces, it s tender, and not gamey. I got the filet mignon. My steak looked a little small, but it along with everything else filled me up comfortably. It had a rich meaty aged taste. What surprised me was how fresh the grilled vegetables were. I actually tasted the earthiness of the carrots, like they were just pulled out of the ground and placed on the grill. Service was good, and the fresh bread was addictive. Everyone was happy. Another eating experience at the Sesame Grill that did not disappoint.

    The decor is a little off, but I like the funkiness of it. There are little twinkly lights inside, somewhat dark, almost romantic, and the kitchen is part of the open two roomed dining area, so you can see the cooks working. There are wine bottles in the back near the restrooms. The hostess is a pleasant, attractive young lady. What's off is that it's a little too much fusion of formal, informal, French bistro, Italian restaurant, but again I come here for the food, and I don't take the other stuff too seriously.

    A hidden gem! Tucked away in a little strip mall surrounded by big name restaurants, this place packs a way bigger punch than those more well known and twice it's size. Not to mention you get way more bang for your buck here! To start, this was my second time here and I was still just as amazed as the first time. We went for valentines dinner which, be sure to make a reservation! Locals love this spot and fill it up quick. The decor inside reminds me of the bellagio ceiling meets retro fusion with perfect lighting and great neon accents. For valentines they had red heart balloons and some heart confetti which was very festive. Staff was extremely nice and accommodating even though it was slammed busy.
    So for the food: we started with the tuna tartar which I could have done a whole plate of by itself. High quality fish and seasoned perfectly, served with a potato chip like crisp. It was almost a fight to the last bite! We also did the crab cake and shrimp which tasted just as good! The battered shrimp had a sweet sauce on it that was very tasty. Shortly after our apps were done our main courses came which we did the Chilean Sea bass and the lamb chops. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, light and flakey with great flavor! It also came with mashed potatoes that proved to be a perfect counter part. The bone in lamb chops are seriously to die for. I had it last time I went and I couldn't stray away. They were prepared, Cooked, and seasoned just as perfectly as I had remembered. They come with a glaze sauce that I could sip on just by itself. Sides were the mashed potatoes and some steamed veggies that were as good dipped in that sauce as the chops were! At this point we were about topped off and couldn't imagine dessert but it was part of our dinner (set menu selection with 3 courses). So we told them to surprise us which they absolutely did! We had the chocolate brownie and panna cotta. The brownie was warm, soft and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a fresh strawberry. There was this green syrup on there that tasted like a gusher! That plate was licked clean. The panna cotta was tasty but texturally speaking, not my cup of tea but we still did some damage to it and the fresh fruit it came with. Not only was the food amazing but the presentation was that of a 5 star establishment that any foodie would have their camera out taking pictures of and posting to show off. The attention to detail on every plate really makes you feel the effort and care that the chef puts into every plate! So, in so many words I absolutely HIGHLY recommend Sesame Grill! You're truly missing out if you don't pop in and give it a shot. And I'll guarantee when you do, you'll be back for more!

    My wife and I have dined at Sesame Grill for over 25 years, starting when it occupied a single side of its current double space. Don't let the strip mall location fool you, the French-Asian cuisine here is perfectly prepared, consistent, with beautiful presentation and delivered with top notch customer service from the wait staff. We dined here last night and as we sat enjoying a fine bottle of wine we brought commented to each other about how long we have come here. Although it had probably been at least 5-6 months since our last visit the owner and several wait staff stopped by to say hello

    The menu runs the gamut from reasonably priced salads and pasta to multiple price fixe three course meals, that include venison, top quality steaks and lobster and a wide assortment of seafood. Sesame Grill as something for every palate and every price range. What you can count on is the consistency of the flavor, and service.

    There are few restaurants that can stay in business over 25 years, and very few that I can say I have enjoyed and been a steady customer for that many years. I am grateful to have found Sesame Grill 26 years ago, and continue to enjoy quality food and reasonable prices served by friendly and passionate people. If someone doesn't enjoy that then maybe they shouldn't be dining out at all.

    I have been here twice and have not been disappointed. Food is very tasty and clean tasting. Try the Prix Fix menu. Crab cakes are amazing. The desserts are very tasty.     I would consider myself a regular at Sesame Grill. I often bring co-workers or celebrate employee birthdays during lunch time. I haven't had a bad experience. The dishes are of great quality, both in taste and visually, at great prices. You can't go wrong with the pork chop, chicken parmesan with linguine, or the NY steak.

    Not only is the food great, the Asian lady whom I think is the owner or manager, is wonderful!! I love her attitude and she's very much knowledgable about what's in the menu. To be honest, she's the reason I keep going back. The service she provides is excellent.

    They're BACK! Sesame Grill was a favorite restaurant of ours for years, but then they changed the continental menu to Cajun seafood, and we were so upset, we never went back. However, it seems that other patrons felt the same way and protested, because the owners very wisely returned the restaurant to its original roots.

    Last night was our first visit back. How nice it was to see the place again, to see the friendly owners and staff, sit at the comfortable booths, and enjoy the smooth and efficient service once again. And to have those fabulous pillowy-soft rolls again, fresh and hot from the oven! I've never had rolls quite like theirs anywhere else.

    The only thing that has me giving four stars and not five, is that I wish they had also returned to their original menu. But while the food is the same style, the dishes are completely different. Neither my boyfriend nor I could order our old favorites. I hope that perhaps the owners might consider re-incorporating some of the former dishes back into the menu. We really missed our Supreme Salad and Rigatoni Primavera. However, my Atlantic Salmon, on a bed of spinach and mushrooms, was perfectly prepared and tasty. My bf said the pureed vegetable soup was one of the best soups he's ever eaten.

    I looked this place up on Yelp before I took my daughter and son to celebrate a birthday. We were so impressed by the ambience of such a small place. Loved the lighting which appeared to be a custom made. We ordered the three course meals and was impressed from the start with the attentiveness from staff. Everything we ordered was presented with grace and so pretty. It did not just look good but tasted exquisite. Every bite was delicious! We will definitely be returning for a replay at this place.

    We came to this restaurant for the first time with DineLA lunch week. We ordered the Yellow Fin Tuna Tartar (very tasty) for appetizer, Char-Broiled Filet Mignon Medallion (medium cooked was very juicy and tender), Linguine with Clam (Linguine was deliciously made with squid ink) for main dish and Creme Brulee, Flan, Banana Cream Cake for dessert. We are impressed by taste of food, decoration of dishes and it was very good. The food was more European than traditional Chinese food, I can tell the chefs are very trained. Server was very friendly. You should try out the food. We will try out the other menu next time.

    Anniversary dinner tonight, went to check in and saw a bad review? I have been coming here over 10 years because of the quality of technique, ingredients, atmosphere, consistency, service and price. It is pretty rare for a place to be able to combine all of these things, but they nail it every time, don't know what the bad review was about today because I ate here, I actually ate the Ahi Tuna Salad. Tuna was fresh and yes I know fresh I am a saltwater fisherman who often prepares his own sushi and am a sushi snob who has taken multiple classes in preparing sushi and breaking down fish. (read other reviews), also had the Escargot, very few restaurants serve Helix Escorgot, but this place nails it every time traditional fresh style with butter and garlic. Also we had the Coconut ice cream for desert, previous reviewer said it was low grade, must not know food very well, because it was hand made at the restaurant as you can tell from the bits of ice and salt in it along with coconut and pineapple, absolutely great craftsmanship and technique. I CAN SAY I HAVE ATE HERE PROBABLY 100 TIMES OR MORE, AND I HAVE YET TO EVER HAVE SUSTANDARD FOOD OR SERVICE OR A COMPLAINT FROM ANY FRIENDS OR FAMILY WE HAVE BROUGHT HERE. This place is amazing and will continue to come here as long as they're doors are open.

    I was there with a friend for the DineLA specials on a Wednesday night. It was my first time there. I had a reservation but it was not extremely busy where it made a difference as we were seated right away upon entering. The overall decor of the restaurant was not special but we were impressed with the flower glass panel on the ceiling. The food selection off the DineLA menu was diverse. My friend and I shared the crab cake and tuna tartar appetizers which were deliciously and the presentation was immaculate. My friend ordered the duck breast while I ordered the filet mignon. The duck and beef were so tender leaving us wanting more from the first to the last bite. The service was great as we were frequently prompted by many servers of any needs they could fulfill. They were even able to provide my friend a bowl of rice upon request. I would definitely go back again!

We ordered one (doesn't require the participation of the entire table), and picked the lobster pasta as the entre, it is not as great as I had anticipated according to other reviewers, the lobster is kind of rough and bland, but the ink squid pasta is tasty.
    Tasty super hot bread!! We also had mushroom soup, clam chower, fish appetitzer two ways, seared crusted Ahi Tuna, Grilled shrimp with crab cake, Chicken and Shrimp Pasta. All of them taste good!

    A good date place too since it is quite and intimate.

    Owned by a traditional Chinese family, the food here is french cuisine.

    The outside appearance and decor didn't seem appealing at all. When you go inside, the kitchen is actually pretty small. Some tables were seated too close together. Some people might want more private space.

    Fresh, warm complimentary bread. One word, HUGE!

    For our Christmas family lunch, we ordered all the signature dishes.

    Appetizers: Tuna Tartare, Crabcakes, Escargot, Spring Salad, and Clam Chowder.

    Entrees: Cowboy Filet Steak, Lobster Pasta, Chilean Sea Bass, and Monkfish.

    Food tasted great but after sharing the dishes and eating family style, the food didn't stick out for me. Because sharing food, your palate keeps changing each time you try a different dish. You can't really enjoy the single dish itself. If it was me, I would have eaten just the cowboy filet steak all to myself. It would have been bomb.com freals.

    Didn't order any dessert because we left full.

    Service was also very prompt and helpful. Gave advice and tips on how to order and what is good.

    One thing I would change is the price. If I'm paying 60 bucks for fish, then it has to be the best fish I've ever eaten. In this case, no. The Chilean Sea Bass was not the best fish I've ever had.

    Minus the price, this is a lovely Asian fusion restaurant.

    I just ate at this place and I had to make a yelp account just to write a review. So my girlfriend and I have been wanting to try it out and we finally had the chance. We both ordered the Chilean Seabass and it was amazing. The Seabass practically melted in our mouths. It was so tender..THEY MUST been using really fresh fish. I am coming back and trying everything.     Ate here for the first time tonight, a friend who had dinner here previously treated my family and me. I ordered the money back guarantee cowboy steak, my wife had the lamb chops, my kids had the fish and shrimp pasta. Everything was very delicious!

    Starting with the complimentary bread, which was warm out of the oven, then the clam chowder, the main courses, and we ordered two desserts. But one of the owners gave us two complimentary desserts, an ice cream and an orange flavored cream brul. The desserts were truly spectacular, sweet and filling, but not overly sweet.

    Moreover, there was a diverse clientele, even though the restaurant seems to be Chinese owned. The ambience was very nice, with table conversations at an acceptable volume. All the restaurant staff were very friendly, without exception.

    The place probably deserves 4.5 stars but I giving it 5 because of the great service. I went in for the $20 lunch DineLA special.

    I was seated immediately and given a menu. Both the hostess and the server were really nice and attentive. My water glass was filled 4-6 times over the course of the lunch and I never had to ask for refills once. The hostess/server/possible-manager also came by and asked if I needed anything probably 3-5 times throughout the meal in a very non-intrusive manner. She just wanted to make sure I was enjoying my meal. I tipped 20%, probably the highest tip I've ever given a Chinese restaurant, as the service was really on par with many high-end restaurants that charge much higher prices.

    In regards to the meal, I ordered the crab cake, the 36-hour short ribs, and had the banana cheesecake for dessert. The crab cake was excellent, not overcooked, and was full of crab. I would definitely come back again to have another one at these prices. The 36-hour short ribs were probably the biggest disappointment in that, like other reviewers have said, they are somewhat dry. Some parts were moist but overall the ribs were about average in terms of tenderness and juiciness. I might recommend in the future that the chef create a 72-hour short rib. I think that would fix the dish as the rest of it was excellent. The sauce had the right balance, the mashed potatoes were buttery without being heavy, and the carrots and onion were cooked well. Lastly, the banana cheesecake was a pleasant surprise. The dessert's texture was perfect semi-thick cream on top of creamy cheesecake. The banana slices were ripe. The biggest surprise was that there were a few coconut shavings on top. Normally I don't like the heavy stringy texture of coconut that contrasts so heavily against the softness of cake. This time, however, the coconut was quite soft and tender and successfully avoided that bite it usually delivers. I ate it quite happily.

    I must say that the Hubs and I are happy that we found a place near our home.

    We normally wait the 2.5 hours for Boiling Crab, but thanks to S.G Cajun, we wont have to anymore.

    We had 1lb of Shrimp in Cajun Seasoning, Cajun fries and rice. All made to order AND good. The sauce is EXCELLENT. Garlic heaven. Note: If you like it HOT, ask to turn it up real hot because they use fresh spicy chiles....

    The menu is explorable, let's say. We will come back, for sure. Angela, the owner is on top of her game. The staff is friendly and hard working.

    We shall be back... to try the coleslaw (looks amazing) and the fried Tilapia.

    I knew this place before as Sesame Grill, but we saw a listing in Yelp! for the new name and decided to come for lunch. We were seated by the owner who said they had remodeled and changed format to the popular Cajun Seafood. We were frequent visitors of Boiling Crab so we figured this place was worth a try.

    I have to say that I was very pleased at the result of the format change. Here's the details of what we ordered:

    1) Clam Chowder to start: it's ok, a bit more cheese and less creamy than I'd like, but goes great with crackers.

    2) Raw Oysters: we did 6 of "West Coast" (bigger, meatier) and 6 of "East Coast" (smaller, sweeter), and were pleased with the freshness and taste of both sets.

    3) Boiled Crawfish: they're larger than Boiling Crab and the meat tastes fresher and more juicy. If you like it spicy be sure to order it as hot or very hot, as they skew to the more mild at this place. It's good spicy and their mix is similar to Whole Shebang at BC, but their boiler doesn't quite get the peppers and spices into the meat like BC does. Despite that they're excellent on their own.

    4) Fried Catfish. This is the highlight of the place. Catfish is hard to get right, it's often too dry when its fried but this place gets a great balance of crispy outside and juicy inside. Served with a light, sweet sauce but we recommend combining that with straight cocktail sauce for a good covering. Very tasty.

    Wash this down with lemonade, which was also very good.

    Service was excellent: the servers were attentive and quick and the owner certainly knew her seafood, often providing details of where the items came from (important if you're into oysters).

    The decor is more simple and a family-like atmosphere with NBA games on all of the TVs, it doesn't have the more sophisticated look of the old Sesame Grill but that's not a bad thing.

    In summary the food and service were excellent and this place is well-recommended if you want to avoid waiting in like at BC.

    Fantastic food, presentation, and service. The owner and head waiter are always there and immediately create a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment.

    There are fabulous fixed-price deals for an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Everything is delicious and beautifully plated. I usually get the beef/steak medallions with potatoes and vegetables, and hazelnut terrine for dessert. Always perfection.

    And don't even get me started on the rolls. They are delicious, large, and hot-from-the-oven. I usually overload on 2 or 3, leaving little room for the entree and dessert to follow, but even so, I usually manage to clean all of my plates.

    We came here for my birthday the other night and were impressed. My girlfriend and her friends were nay-Sayers to the whole idea but once the fresh rolls were delivered to our table hot, soft and crispy their minds were changed real fast.
    I had the lamb chops and was amazed at their fabulous flavor and wonderful presentation. At $40 though they were a bit pricy for the amount of food. Also, they served it with small squash filled with delicious veggies. It would have been perfect if the squash was cooked and not raw.
    My girlfriend had the chicken linguine and was a little disappointed. The pasta was a bit over done and the dish was under salted. Her friend had the chicken Marsala and was pleased. The chicken was soft, moist and delicious. Perfection!
    The only reason it wasn't a 5 star was because of the linguine and the pepper shaker was filled with pepper that was too big to be shaken out. I suggest pepper and sea salt mills at each table.

    Great service and amazing food!! Recently held a PTA party here and the manager Angelina took good care of us. She was able to accommodate our budget for the pre-fixe menu.     Sesame Grill offers a very enjoyable dining experience - so long as you go with an open mind and few preconceived notions of what a place like this should or shouldn't be. I've been here twice (once many years ago, and once recently) and was pleasantly surprised on both occasions.

    The interior decor has remained largely unchanged (despite a temporary makeover as a cajun seafood joint). I was glad to see on my more recent visit that the owner had not changed, either (she can be spotted waiting tables on any given night). Yes, that's right, the owner actually waits tables here. You know she cares about her customers and their dining experience. Sometimes, it may seem like she's trying a little too hard, but I'd rather have an owner try too hard than not at all. Most of the wait staff are fully proficient in Mandarin / Cantonese / English, which makes for a smooth experience for most.

    The ambiance seems a bit eclectic w/ lots of interesting lights + Christmas icicle lights, etc. There is a TV (which I personally enjoy, because I got to watch basketball), but I can see it taking away slightly from what could otherwise be a classier atmosphere. My suggestion: move the TV to a side / bar area, and keep the main dinning area less distracting. Either way, I would say the overall impression is still upscale, but certainly not haute.

    Came here with the g/f on a Friday night around 8:30 p.m. The place was still quite busy, though it cleared up later on. I had the crab cake app, 36-hour short ribs, and panna cotta w/ fruit dessert as part of the prix fixe menu ($28). She had the Chilean sea bass w/ lobster reduction ($32). The owner saw that neither of us had been there in a loooooong time and threw in a banana cream cheesecake dessert on the house.

    Food:
    - Bread: 3.5/5 - Very soft rolls. Clearly fresh, but could use a bit more of a crust, IMO. Very buttery, not overly salty. Probably geared more towards an Asian audience that prefers soft bread.
    - Crab cake appetizer: 4.5/5 - decent size crab cake. Not too salty, nice crust, moist on the inside like a crab cake should be. The accompanying aioli was nicely flavored as well. G/f and I both enjoyed this one.
    - 36-hour short rib:4/5 - I liked this dish. Large portion of tender braised beef short rib on top of mashed potatoes. The sauce / jus had a nice depth, the beef was earthy and flavorful. Accompanying petite carrots were meh.
    - Chilean sea bass w/ lobster reduction: 4/5 - Very nice portion of tender sea bass. Lobster reduction was a bit over-powering for me. G/f got the lobster reduction on the side and enjoyed her sea bass mostly plain.
    - Panna Cotta w/ fresh fruit: 4.5/5 - Very soft, light, yet creamy. Tart sauce contrasts nicely with otherwise smooth dessert.
    - Banana cream cheesecake: 5/5 - to die for. Sweet, but not too sweet. Rich, but not heavy. I loved every bite.

    Presentation of the food was good all around. Portions are very satisfactory (you won't go home hungry). Wait staff was very attentive.

    Truthfully, I would give sesame grill 4.5 / 5 stars, but the adorable owner pushes it over the top for me.

    Sesame grill isn't a super ritzy, ultra-polished high-end joint. It is, however, a good restaurant with a great owner and very good food. Keep your expectations in check and you will find yourself leaving very satisfied.

    Went during lunch time for the DineLA menu which is $20/person.
    Staff was very professional and knowledgeable about their food, from its origin to how is prepared. However during a short 1 hour lunch break the description is about 5 min too long.

    The food has excellent presentation and very delicious with great ingredients but took them awhile to bring out the food. Again, it might be because I am rushing to go back to work.

    There is construction in the parking lot which is put the restaurant at a disadvantage due to the lack of parking and also the smell of burnt rubber and exhaust fume from the construction trucks.

    Overall Impression: good taste, good ingredients, good service. will come again

    Having lived near here since my childhood, I was fairly reluctant to come here when my friend suggested it for our group's holiday dinner. The outside has never appealed to me, and I always envisioned it was like an expensive American's version of Panda Express (based on the neon sign).

    Completely wrong! I really loved the atmosphere, service, and food here. My group of seven came to eat on the Sunday of Christmas break. Reservations were made a few hours before. All of us opted for the prix fixe menu, which was clearly the most economical option ($28, vs. a typical entree price of $22 and a typical appetizer price of $12).

    I was most impressed by the service - extremely friendly, quick, and unnecessarily apologetic for the crowdedness, which I had thought only added to the atmosphere. Nicely decorated interior during the holiday.

    For my prix fixe menu I got the burrata, salmon, and a panna cotta. None of us were in love with our desserts, but the rest of the meal was well worth the cost.

    In the end, I would highly recommend this place for a slightly more upscale group gathering (as compared to typical Chinese restaurants) without brekaing the bank

    Rarely do we love a restaurant as much as we loved Sesame Grill. Don't be fooled by its strip mall location and neon sign. The food is fantastic and the staff are welcoming and funny. My husband used to be a chef and has a very picky palate and he loved everything they served us. We definitely recommend this spot for a date night or to bring the whole family.

    Aniwayz.. On to my experience: The food here is delicious. Service is excellent and beyond my expectation.

    I came here earlier this year and came back and everything was as good as i remember it if not better. To my pleasant surprise, the owner remembered me and greeted us warmly even though she only met us once. She asked how we were doing and made me feel very welcome. I just drove 400 miles back to Socal 2 hrs before i came here..so the fact that she remembered me made me feel like i just got home ^_^.

    Onto the food. We ordered fried calamari for appetizer, braised short ribs, creamy tomato soup, and Chilean sea bass with house special salad. The bread came out warm and toasty outside, moist and fluffy inside. Then the soup and salad came out shortly afterwards. I really like the consistency, flavor and taste of the soup. It is not too heavy but not too light. Delicious to dip the bread in. The salad had these nice sweet fruit that complemented the sour dressing well.

    They waited for us to finish our soup and salad and then brought out the fried calamari. The waitress told us that it was lightly breaded. At first, it didn't look like it was lightly breaded. They looked like onion rings. However, when we ate them, it was so yummy. The meat was tender and juicy...not oily at all. The bread was crunchy yet fluffy and melt in your mouth with really great flavor. The sauce came with it had a hint of horseradish which enhanced the flavor even more. My mouth is kinda watery as i typed this :-P . The portion is also enough for two people...and yes it was lightly breaded :)

    After the appetizer, i was happy. then the main courses came out. Uhmmm. The plating were very cute and pretty. I got the short ribs and my bf had the Chilean sea bass, which was sooo delishhh. It's like "sea in your mouth". The texture of the fish was so tender, juicy with a light fresh crisp outside. Totally breezyyy. The fish was very well marinated. I also love the taste of the thinly fried potato chip that came as decoration for the dish. It tasted delish and the texture was...sexy..melts in your mouth...(for the lack of a better words).. It really made me feel like i just ate the ocean.

    Now onto land. The braised short ribs was earthy. The meat was tender, juicy with a right blend of fattiness. The vegetable came with it was well cooked and seasoned. The meat sauce came in a little porcelain ramekin so you can dip your meat or veggies in it. Yum yum yum. The portion was also big and i couldn't finish the whole thing just because i was getting full. Every bite was delicious and made me and my tummy happy.

    After we finished, the owner was super nice and gave us a complementary cream custard...and i find my stomach tried to make space for dessert. It was very satisfying. I love the fact that she was there talking to all her customers and making sure everyone was happy.

    The ambiance was nice and relaxing. Service was excellent. Food was super delicious... I will come back and recommend it to everyone who wants great food and great service.

    I haven't written yelp reviews for awhile cuz nothing really impressed me enough to have me make time in my hectic schedule for a review but: This place is bomb dot com. 400 miles drive worthwhile :) 'nough said.

    I've been visiting Sesame Grill for several years now and I have enjoyed every visit. It is a yummy dining adventure for foodies like my husband & I. The food is great and the staff is very friendly and eager to please. I celebrated my birthday there a few days ago and Sesame Grill gave me a tasty & beautifully decorated tiramisu cake!

    If only I lived closer to Sesame Grill, I'd dine there more often!

    I usually like to come in here for a luncheon with a friend and chat it up a little.
    This restaurant is Asian owned. But it's more of a Italian, meets western kind of bistro. I like the Chinese chicken and the pastas are pretty decent too. They have a large list of wines to chose from. Recently added a new lunch menu that includes burgers and hot dogs. The manager seems very excited about it because she came to my table 3 times and express how affordable and delicious the burgers were. Haha, thought it was cute. Service is good and friendly.

    We just finished our 4 days trip in LA and we spent two nights at Sesame Grill. We loved the services, food and everything. The home made bread was always warm, soft and fresh. The crab cake and tuna tartar tasted delicious. We also ordered the mushroom soup, lobster pasta, Chilean sea bass, linguine fresh clams. We enjoyed the chocolate cake and creme brle. The owner is very nice and she always checks with the customers to make sure that they enjoy the dinner. From the presentation of the dishes, you can definitely see that the chef cooks the food with his heart. Sesame Grill is one of the must go restaurants whenever we visit LA.

    I have been coming here some time now, and while it is a little pricey, it is totally worth it.

    I would recommend coming here for their lunch specials, since you get a good amount of food for less.

    I always get:

    Chicken Dumplings - these plump dumplings are filled with ground chicken breast and served with an orange sauce, they are super yummy and are a great appetizer
    Grilled Salmon - I love the salmon here and the citrus vinaigrette that they use is a very nice complement to the salmon and the mashed potatoes.

    Came here with the family to celebrate my dad's birthday and all I can say is we were very pleased with the experience! We all ordered the dinner set which was $28 a person and it came with three courses. I can write a long review about each dish but I'm gonna save me time and save you time by saying...everything was delicious! I just want to say I highly recommend their filet mignon which was just cooked to perfection! Also their bread rolls are so good! Word of advice though is don't eat to much of it (although it's super hard to resist), they are quite filling.
    The manager was super nice too, she gave us a free tiramasu cake because it was my dad's birthday and just to let you guys know, it wasn't just a slice, it was a whole cake! Overall this place is fine dinning at an affordable price, I highly recommend giving this place a try! You won't be disappointed!

    My parents and I come here so often it's ridiculous. I still remember the first Sesame Grill that opened in the same plaza as Sinbala in Arcadia. That was a weird Sesame Grill. I definitely think that they weren't doing well in that location. But, it was sort of the same menu. Maybe it was the feng-shui that persuaded them to change their location?

    I'm not sure if they changed ownership or management, but whatever they did was great! If I still lived in Arcadia, I'd probably go there like every other day. The waitstaff recognizes my family whenever we go there, and they've memorized all of our drink orders, appetizers, and entree orders. It's a great place to go because they have a great menu, they're fast, very hospitable, and the food tastes great. It is usually pretty packed, but never really had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seated. I love the fried vegetable roll, curry chicken with linguine, and their Thai Tea. The curry chicken has melons in it, and I do love fruit mixed into hot food (when it's appropriate). Of course, I have also tried other things on the menu like their cowboy steak, mushroom soup, oriental chicken salad, salmon over mashed potatoes...and it's all been very good as well.

    I have also been there for their Thanksgiving dinner. Very pricey for what they offer, but it was still super packed. I'd be really shocked if you end up having an undesirable experience.

    It was great! What a pleasant surprise! The old Sesame Grill is back! The food was delicious. We decided to give it another try... and we were all glad we did. The original menu items are back (plus new additions), the original atmosphere is back, and the food WAS THE BEST!

    This is one of our favorite restaurants, I've come for lunch and dinner for years, and also brought most of my friends there, they all agreed that this restaurant is just as good as it gets!

    All the waitstaff are very attentive with excellent service, even the front desk is always so helpful. The owner always remembers my hubby and I because we had our first date dinner there and this year we went back for our 2nd year anniversary, we always feel so welcome and warmhearted to dine there!

    The food is always maintained high quality and the serving size is big. My hubby ordered the 3 course meal and I had the Sea Bass with Brant, everything is presented nicely and tasted wonderfully! We also love their bread, you can get as many as you want, and our drinks will always being refilled without asking. No doubt this is the place I will always re-visit in the year!

    We decided to head over here for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered the prix fixe lunch menu, which includes a choice of appetizer, entre, and dessert (great value!). Also ordered escargot as an additional appetizer.

    The escargot was good. There was plenty of butter and garlic to keep them tender and as a dip for the fresh bread that just came out of the oven. My appetizer was the yellow-tail tuna tartar, which was refreshing and tasted great. For the entre, I ordered the beef medallions. This came with vegetables and mash potatoes. The meat was very tender and cooked just right (I like mine medium-rare). For dessert, we sampled each others (very generous portions) and all of them (cheesecake, crme brulee, and ice cream) was a good way to finish off the meal.

    Price was good for the quality of food! Service was good, since the owner and waiter stopped by several times to ask if everything was going well. Will definitely stop by here again.

    Came here for dinner last week and the service and food was exceptional. As I was only one in my party that did not order the pre fix menu (meaning no dessert came with my meal ) they brought out ice cream on the house for me so I don't feel left out. It is small gestures like this that makes people return to an establishment. Will definitely be back.

    Amazing food. Great decor. Food presentation was beautiful. The prices are also better than most. You can get a 3 course meal for just $20. I had the tartar and it was very flavorful and fresh. The short ribs were tender and juicy. Staff is very nice and accommodating. I would come back again.

    this place is french / asian .. I guess fusion cuisine. Menu is a blend of french- american, japanese items.

    Ordered the pork chop grill and it was tender, tasty, and had a fresh spread of veggies! The warm starter rolls are DELICIOUS!! SO fluffy with a crispy outside -- it is addictive. We were told that the lamb chops were superb here.. but didn't get to try it.
    Our group was large.. 9 people, but they were able to comfortably accommodate us. It's the kind of place to go relax, hang out, and have good food with a nice ambiance (the kind you can take your in laws to).

    Interestingly enough, they serve gourmet hot dogs here...

    Love this place! I came here yesterday and got the $20 3-course dineLA lunch special. I ordered the tuna tartar appetizer, prawn entree, and chocolate cake dessert. My friend got the crab cake, steak (medium), and banana cream cake.

    Everything was delicious! The tuna was fresh and both appetizers came with these different sauces/purees that just made them explode with flavor. The prawns were delicious as well and were complimented perfectly by the rice and sauce it came with. The steak was juicy but just a little bit crispy on the outside, and went perfectly with the crispy onions and vegetables. For the desserts, I'm personally not big on banana cream in general, but my friend loved it. The chocolate cake was great. I was iffy about the texture at first, but once you eat it with the ice cream and sauce, it just melts, and it is amazing.

    The service was really good too, the waitress explained the menu since it was my first time and everyone was generally friendly. The manager even came up to us to ask us how the food was. She even told us how they had been changing the menu according to yelp reviews. The restaurant seems really popular, so they wouldn't be in trouble if they stuck to the menu, so I think it's great that they care so much about what their customers think and keep trying to improve. I would recommend this place to anyone!

    Celebrated our ANNIVERSARY here. The food , the service, the atmosphere was BEYOND perfect! Hands down BEST DINNER IVE HAD! The owner was nice enough to surprise us with an anniversary design on our dessert plate which made our night THAT much more MEMORABLE! I seriously have never been so happy with service , its hard to find a place where they actually WANT your business! They go out of their way to please you without being annoying.     Food is great but I'm dropping it to 4 stars for 2 reasons:

    1. Creme brle is not good - taste soooo eggy.
    2. I was given the wrong left overs twice... TWICE! I asked the waiter for a box and so he took my lenguine leftovers. My sister then also asked for a box for her food and a min or two after she got hers back, boxed up and everything but I didn't get mine back yet. So I asked about it. I got a box back with lenguine inside but I noticed that my two left over muscles weren't in the box and there was some random veggie in the box that I know I didn't eat. I told them and they gave me another one back but there was some random leaf/veggie in it. After looking at it more closely, I noticed that the muscles had some rice pieces in it.. In which I know I DID not eat. Are you kidding me???? This is disgusting! Giving other people's left overs to people. So GROSS. I gave up cause it was too long.. they probably already gave my food away or into the trash. So be careful with your leftovers!!!!!! You could be eating someone else's dirty mouth!

    Came here for ladies night based on one of my girl friend's recommendation. Don't be fooled! The waitstaff is Asian and the restaurant name is Asian, but the menu is definitely not Asian.

    You can't see much from the outside but walking in, the interior of the restaurant is dimly lit with a nice romantic ambiance. Since I didn't look this place up before coming in, I was a bit surprised.

    The dinner prix fixe menu starts at only $28. You get an appetizer, entree, and dessert. I ordered the jumbo lump crab cake as appetizer, 36 hours short ribs as entree, and creme brulee for dessert.

    Jumbo lump crab cake- It was delicious. It was moist and with a slight crust. The sauce it came with was flavorful. I hate it when crab cakes get mushy but this one was done right. I would recommend it.

    36 hours short ribs- I really enjoyed this dish. The short ribs were done wonderfully with great flavor. My only complaint about it is that it's a bit salty for my taste. The potato puree is delicious. I just found myself thirsty after the dish so I think they need to ease up on the sodium.

    Creme brulee- I was a bit disappointed with this one. The creme brulee came with fruit on top and a large thin oval shaped cookie. The fruit was delicious and so was the cookie. Then I took my spoon to the custard and I was disappointed. It lacked the hard caramel layer that I love so much and it was too eggy for my taste.

    Service was great. Very friendly. Everyone at the table got their dish at the same time. Our server came a few times to check on us.

    Would I come here again? YES!!!

    Oo, can't exactly remember what we ordered, but my boyf's parents know the owners so we got a lot of hook ups..like a loottt...without the hookups or the hooked up'ed service, I probably would have gave this place 3 stars.

    Normally, I really do not care about restaurant decor, it has nothing to do with what I'm purchasing - what I am purchasing is food and service lol, but this place has an identity crisis..it's like fighting a battle with high end restaurants, and a bar area! There's nice decor on the ceiling that everyone is taking pictures of, but then there's also TV's and booths as seats..and the seats are also very close together, like as in literally booths on booths, like as if I was in a fast food restaurant.

    We ordered, the Porterhouse, Chilean Sea Bass, Foie Gras, Bone Marrow, and also opted for their 28? dollar pre-fix menu, and their 50 dollar pre-fix menu, which is actually also their DineLA menu. We also has banana cheesecake, pana cotta, and julian chocolate cake or something like that idk, they have accents lol.

    Porterhouse - this isn't bad, but NOT worth it. It's 75 dollars, that's more expensive than Mastro's and PLUS it's way smaller, and they don't even cut it up for you ):
    Fish - was very buttery, if you like that then you go Glen Coco!
    Foie Gras - isn't the best that I've had, but this isn't the worst, try it out!
    Bone Marrow - we all believed that they add something to this Bone Marrow, it's super solidified and jello-ey when it's supposed to be really hard to spoon. The flavors are whatever, if you've had Bone Marrow before it tastes like basically fat lol.
    From the 28? prefix menu, we also got tuna tartare WTF THERES NO AVOCADO?? so sad..what is tartare without avocado HMMM?
    We also got duck, both on this menu and the 50$ menu, these were not good, I'm gonna stick to my Chinese duck lol.
    I usually don't like dessert, so naturally I did not like these desserts, too creamy, too heavy, too sweet - but that's just me. I hardly ever like dessert.

    Anyways, overall all of our desserts and wine were compted, but only because my boyf's parents know the owner. If it wasn't for this, I would have gave it a 2.8/5 lol.

    My wife, niece and I went out to look for a place to eat and I thought Restaurant Row in Arcadia should do. A friend posted on FB about Sesame Grill so we ended up there.
    We were very impressed by the friendly attitude of the lady owner, like we were old customers even though this was our first time. She has a great attitude that is very encouraging to see. The service was exceptional!

    We ordered 3 lunch specials, they all had a good appearance and flavor. The food is more filling than it looks, that's a good thing, I want to feel replete before leaving my tip.

    The cole slaw was very good. It tasted similar to KFC's except you could tell it was much fresher and lighter, just as it should be. I grew up in the south and I the flavor is more authentic than you get elsewhere.

    My Rigatoni Primavera was very good. My wife had Filet of Sole and our niece had Spaghetti. We topped it all of with green tea ice cream.

    We all agreed that that we would definitely be coming back here, maybe with our friend who suggested it.

    The prix fixe was so delicious! I love the tartare, crab cake, short ribs cooked for 36 hours, everything! The presentation was also gorgeous. The creme brulee is a great dessert to finish everything off. It comes with a large cookie and pomegranate seeds to add some crunch to the creaminess. The banana cheesecake is pretty nice with a sticky sweet flavor, but maybe that flavor isn't for everyone. The prawns also are nicely seasoned. Great place, good deals. It's been here since 1995, love the vibe.

    Last week, I had the medium rare steak which ended up being more on the rare side. It came with a couple veggies and mashed potatoes. Nothing really to note except that it was neither good nor bad. The opening tuna tartar though was good as usual and always reminds me of eating sashimi because of it's smooth taste and texture. For the dessert I choose a chocolate cake. Unfortunately I didn't eat this until it sat in the fridge for a couple hours as leftovers. Needless to say it wasn't that good but I'd rather not count that against them.

    There was a large selection of drinks and I mistakenly ordered a coffee boba instead of milk tea boba. xD It was alright once I got used to the coffee.

    Overall the service is generally great and the food decent or really good. I definitely don't mind going again for a more classy meal.

    It always a treat to come home to this after college! The new prix fixe menu is ridiculously worth every penny of the $19.95. From the fresh yellow fin tuna tartar to the delicious beef tenderloin medallions and the banana cream pie, every mouthful is a fine example of the fine dining experience. I've also (courtesy of the people I'm with) had the 36 hour short ribs and fish of the day, and the sensation is much the same.

    Plus, the new remodeling of the floor, lights, and walls make the environment alone worthy of being in this place! It looks chic, modern, and complements the great food in its own special way. Seriously, go there and treat yourself to a little piece of food heaven.

    Before yelping Sesame Grill, I've walked by it many times going to one of the other business' in the shopping center. The store front is simple...nothing fancy. Based on the reviews, it seems as though people either really liked or they didn't. With that in mind, we weren't really sure what to expect. We decided give it a try and decide for ourselves. Now that we've tried it, we're not sure what the others didn't like about it.

    We ordered off of the 3 Course Prix-Fixe Lunch menu ($19.95/pp). I ordered the jumbo lump crab cake, linguine with fresh manila clams and chocolate mousse (they were out of the chocolate cake). Hubby ordered the yellow fin tuna tartar, beef tenderloin medallions, and banana cheese cake. Everything was tasty! The beef tenderloin was as good as any steakhouse at half the price. We enjoyed every dish!

    Service was great...fast and friendly. I can't believe we didn't try Sesame Grill sooner. We will definitely be dining here more often.

    This restaurant was great! 5 star ambiance with quality food at reasonable prices. The pre fixe menu is definitely worthwhile. The bread, appetizer, entree, and dessert were all delicious. If you make it there by 5:30 they usually let you order from the lunch pre fixe menu, which even makes it more worthwhile. Great service as well, it was almost full on a Wednesday evening, which says a lot.

    The staffs were very friendly and gave tons of recommendations for what to order. They really know their dishes really well.

    We end up ordering the fixed 3 course meal. I got the crab cake, King salmon and the tiramisu. The crab cake was really good but what really surprised me was their king salmon. The King salmon was cooked in a way that the inner salmon had alternating layers (well done, raw, well done, raw and so forth) which gave the salmon a really special texture. It melts in your mouth. As for the Tiramisu, I didn't like the fact that it has a thick layer of cake/lady finger. I'd prefer tiramisu that are more moist (thus meaning it contains more cream).

    Had a really good experience last night with friends! The place is easy to find in the plaza and parking place is sufficient. The waitress and waiter both provide excellent services! Each of us ordered a three course combo ($28). I ordered the tuna tata, short ribs and cream bulee. I gotta say the short ribs and cream bulee are in excellent taste! My friends ordered the steak in median rare and salmon, and they are both really good! Will definitely try some other dishes next time and I believe it will be great too!

    I walked in for lunch with two others today. After promptly being seated, all three of us ordered the lunch special which includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Afterwards bread and butter were served. Two of us had the green salad: neatly arranged and fresh. One had the crabcake. We all ordered fish of the day: grilled salmon on a mountain of veggies and mashed potato. The fish had great texture and was rather tasty. To finish up, two creme brulees and a green tea ice cream were served. I can only speak for the green tea ice cream as I didn't try the creme brulee. It was delicious. I walked out satisfied and without having overeaten.

    I enjoyed the cozy ambience and the friendly service from Angela.

    Food is pricey for the area but the food was really good.

    FOOD:
    I had the sea bass and the lobster bisque sauce was AMAZING. I ate the whole thing and it was pretty big. There was a delicious side of mash potatoes that was delicious and greens. I also got a side salad. It was kinda pricey but very good.

    Snails - I live snails, but this one was alright. I've had better at other French restaurants.

    Dessert - Pinnocata - yum

    SERVICE:
    There were only two sets of people - me and the fiance and another couple. So they were attentive and really friendly. He was so nice. He reminded me of Gary Oldman in The Fifth Element.

    Romantic at night. But yeahm it was nice.

    Easy private parking lot.

    OVERALL:

    This place was awesome! The service was great and the food will have you thinking about it days after you have gone. I got the Prix Fixed Menu that included a crab cake (simply delicious and very flavorful), the Jumbo Prawns (tasted a lot like lobster) and the Chocolate Mouse Cake (I'm not even a sweets person but I couldn't stop eating it).

    The food and the service was definitely a treat. It's just one of those places that you absolutely have to try! The prices were reasonable and fair.

    Went after the Super Bowl to celebrate Pats victory! Jk it was a friend's birthday. We got in and were seated almost immediately. We were then given a detailed explanation of all the more upscale chef specials and some more economical entrees. We ended up getting the escargot and foie gras as appetizers; the sea bass, lobster pasta, and lamb chops from the chef special; and the clam pasta and salmon shrimp pasta from the regular entree menu.

    The escargot was good and had great texture; the salmon shrimp pasta and the clam pasta are both pretty standard with good portions, but everything else was out of this world...

    The foie gras immediately melted on my tongue and definitely left me wanting more.

    The sea bass was ridiculously tender, and the sauce adds a nice kick to the every bite. Lobster pasta was extremely flavorful and came with a very generous chunk of lobster tail, very fresh and nicely cooked. The lamb chop was juicy but still tough enough for me to enjoy every bite.

    We also had a couple desserts at the end. The most notable one was the cheesecake topped with delicious banana cream, ending our dinner wonderfully.

    Beyond expectations is about the only way I can describe this place. It looks like your ordinary hole-in-the-wall strip mall restaurant from the outside but the quality of the food and presentation is far above what you'd expect, especially for the price.

    We've been there about a half dozen times now, each time bringing some new people that didn't believe how good the place was and each time we've left quite happy. Keep up the great work guys!

    First time here last week! We were pleasantly surprised. Another reviewer said it best. When you first see the place you wonder what the place is because of its location--very unlikely for a fine dining restaurant, that is. and lo and behold. You see the menu and it's pretty good. Compliments to the chef! We liked everything we ordered. To be safe we simply ordered the prix fixe menu and were quite satisfied with it. Where it threw me off was they brought the bill on a plastic tray, which would have been nicer and in keeping with the fine dining experience if they'd invested in leather folder bill holders. Don't you agree? Also, it might help if they covered up the facade to make it look like a classier place. I saw a lot of passers by looky-loo's who were probably wondering the same thing we did before we tried it out. Still I'd give it 4 stars. I'll be back.

    4 1/2, but since I like the owners, I'm rounding it up instead of down. I'm surprised to see some of the low ratings on here. The restaurant is great!

    Ambiance: The decor is nice and the lighting is dim. Pretty modern and comfortable.

    Service: I've always had great service here. The owners are very outgoing and the wait staff is typically on top of everything.

    Prices: I think that the prices are very fair for what you get. Certain dishes are more costly, but you get what you pay for people. The prices are right there on the menu...

    Food: YUM! Their bread is super bomb and is so filling. They bring it out super warm and the butter just melts all over it! I particularly love their Asian Chicken Salad. The greens they use in the salad are always fresh. You can taste the freshness, and it really is the way all salads should be! The dressing is light and delishhhhhhh. My fiance had the salmon during his first visit here and he loved it. My parents ordered an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms, and they really enjoyed them (they were piping hot, I saw them come straight from the oven). So all in all, you can expect a lot of seafood options, with a few salads, soups, pastas, and meats.

    My rating comes from: good service, good food, and decent prices for what you're getting!!

    Still very much up to par being back for the first time after several years! I heard they've gone from Californian fusion to "handsy seafood" (think Boiling Crab style restaurant where you're given a pair of plastic gloves to handle&peel your seafood on the spot--personally I've got nothing against this as I love Boiling Crab) back to their old fusion menu. I must say I'm really glad they've got their old menu back: the fusion menu is more unique and has way more to offer than the Boiling Crab-imitation menu. The owner and staff are largely the same and still just as friendly as I remember them to be. And this is saying a lot to be honest, to be in business for over a decade in the more-competitive-than-ever SGV.

    And yes, I still vouch for the Milk Tea here as being the best in town (yes, capital M and capital T because I really feel like their Milk Tea has earned pronoun status :P).

    Wow. What a gem of a neighborhood place, like a mom and pop place which is chinese - Hawaiian - french fusion. Amazing! I had the set dinner menu for $28 3 courses. First course crab cake with sweetcorn dressing. Second course beef tenderloin medium rare with mashed potatoes, veggies and gravy, super delicious. Finally dessert was a crme brle with fruit and a sugar cookie snap. Everything tasted super amazing and the quality was that of hotel quality. I had the champagne split for 8.95, a reasonably good single serving. Great restaurant, friendly service. They can speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin if you need it. Love it, highly recommend! !!

    Went here a couple of weeks back after spending hours at the Living spaces down the road, so we needed to refuel...

    I got the prefixed dinner with baby crab cake, scallop linguini and flan. The hub got chicken Marsala. Food was ok, sorta had a different, asian-inspired taste to them. The chicken was a little dry. The Flan was super good and we were literally fighting over the last bite lol.

    The service was impeccable though. We appreciate our server's honest input in the food choices.

    Decor was random and all over the place, Christmas lights on the windows, winter leaves on the sill, Valentine's Day hearts everywhere and Chinese New Year statues filling in the empty spaces. I was mildly amused and confused..

    Be wary of any elitist two-star reviews left here for this place, they are wildly inaccurate and downright laughable. This place is excellent. I've been eating here regularly for years. Service is high quality and prices are very reasonable.

    I don't know why some reviewers here said "confusing selection of food." Seriously, there are many cuisines represented on the menu and each one I've tried has not disappointed.

    You can order on a whim here and not be upset with what you pick. My favorite dishes are the tiger shrimp, the sausage rigatoni in cream sauce, and the salmon salad.

    Sesame Grill is perfect for a quiet meal, semi-formal business lunches, dates, or for the casual diner that wants to try something new and fun. It's casual enough where you are free to be yourself, and fancy enough that you can impress a date or dine on a holiday with a loved one.

    I have been meaning to write a review for this restaurant, but I haven't had the chance. This place is one of my favorites. I am a fan of French cuisines and know the ins and outs of it. My mom lives in Azusa so she comes here a lot and automatically knew I would like it.

    ATMOSPHERE:
    The atmosphere is fancy, but casual at the same time. They have TVs in the restaurant, & I have seen people eating foie gras and escargot while watching a football game in a jersey. Pretty interesting sight I must say.

    PRICE:
    Well - This is the BEST part. It is a good alternative to extra expensive French cuisine. They have good food for a VERY affordable price. I usually order from the Prixe Fix menu. I LOVE Prixe Fix menus, because I'm a fatty and I like to try many different dishes. The have Prixe Fix menus ranging from $30 up to about $60? (I'm not 100% sure, so don't take my word on this).

    FOOD:
    The food is really good. I ALWAYS get the escargot because...I...Like...Snails...Dun dun dun. I know...slimy goodness. I also love their Beef Carpaccio with thick slices of Parmesan cheese. Don't be afraid of raw meat. It will put some GRRR in your step. You must also try the Lamb. Tender. On the Bone. Makes you feel like a classy caveman. What is better than that? To be a natural barbarian in a high class setting.

    OVERALL:
    Highly recommend for everyone to go try at least once, especially for a special occasion. French cuisine and French flavors aren't for everyone, but this is a great place to get a novice start, as they put their twist on classic dishes.

    Bf brought me here for the first time and overall, it was pretty good! They have a 3 course prix fixe for either $30 or $50, depending on what entree you want. There is also a good variety of dishes that range from meats to seafoods. The style can be described as a french/new American fusion. I had the $30 prix fixe and ended up ordering the tuna tartar, king salmon, and vanilla Panna cotta. Overall, the presentation is really modern and the dessert was delicious! The consistency of the Panna cotta was perfect and the flavor was rich and definitely vanilla-y enough. The other dishes were also well prepared and presented, but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, excellent food and value.
    I had to dock a star because since the menu and ambience of the restaurant tries to be higher end, they need to match that in all aspects. The menu design with the prix fix only mentions the protein name or dish name with no description so I don't know what sides it will come with. This especially needs to be done since I did have some food allergies that I needed to eat around... other wise I would have asked for them to take off certain items.

    I've dined here twice for dinner, and enjoyed both meals. Went last Wednesday with a girlfriend. I ordered the linguini with clams which had fresh clams and black linguini (a departure from the typical pasta, but cooked al dente and very good). Friend had the salmon and she seemed to like the dish. Decent wine-by-the-glass selections. They offer a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (you had me at hello)! Overall, a better than average experience. The only complaint is that the our male server was less than attentive. It took awhile for him to come over and greet us, and then we waited over 10 minutes to get our wine... when the place itself really wasn't that busy. He never checked on us to see if the dishes met with our approval (perhaps an oversight). After we'd finished our main course, I asked for a dessert menu and over 10 minutes went by and he never came. I had to ask him AGAIN, and he made a sound like "Oops I forgot all about it." It wasn't bad enough to poo poo the whole restaurant, but hopefully they read this and work on the service.

    Reunited and it feels so good!

    Well I went back to Sesame Grill for our family Easter dinner. I was curious as to whether I would still love their rib eye that I had previously raved about. Wow! The first bite I took was so tender and juicy that it actually felt like I was eating rib eye for the first time in my life. I had forgotten what a good piece of prime rib eye SHOULD taste like. I got medium rare and it was prepared to perfection.

    But wait... just when I thought things couldn't get any better, something else captured my taste buds and caused my belly button to sing. It was their strawberry juice. Pure. Strawberries. Wow! I had never tasted strawberry juice before. It was ridiculously amazing. I mean, if their strawberry juice was illegal, it'd be worth going to jail for! It was that good. After drinking multiple cups of it (I stole my mom's drink also), I thought to myself... "Jamba who?" I mean, I want to go there right now just for that drink! It is one of those things in life that is a must try.

    Anyway, once again I leave Sesame Grill a more than satisfied customer. They never disappoint! Indeed, it feels so good...

    Service is always really good here and since mother is super tight with the owner, desserts are always on the house. Order the escargot here and make sure to dip the complimentary bread in their garlic sauce -- it's so good. The desserts are pretty good -- not too sweet. I would recommend ordering the creme brle, tiramisu, and panna cotta here.

    Came here on a rainy Friday night without making a reservation. Luckily it was slow so we got seated right away. The ambient was very cozy and romantic. Pretty colorful decorations on the ceiling and dim lights all around.

    We got the prefixed $28 per person. Everything was so well presented and flavorful. My favorite was the crab cake. It was so moist and delicate. The tuna and salmon were very fresh as well. Dessert was to die for. Overall, the portion was a good amount and we all were stuffed.

    Service was excellent! The owner was such a sweet lady. She came to check on us often. She also told us about the restaurant history and made sure we were having a good time. She also gave me a full tiramisu cake for my bday. So nice!

    Made a visit here for lunch with a few of my co-workers. I really didn't have much of an appetite and I wasn't sure how I felt yet about french/new American fusion so I kept it simple and ordered the soup & salad combo. After ordering they quickly served us a basket of warm bread (1 for each person), the bread wasn't "just warm", it was "right out of the oven I can't wait to watch the butter melt on this warm" and so so good! They also served a cup of creamy french vegetable soup. I chose the chicken salad (2 other options: chicken caesar salad or vegetable). The salad was full and fresh, the dressing was a great balance of sweet and tangy. My only gripe is regarding the carrot shards that topped the salad, too thin to grab with my fork and too long to fit in my mouth when taking a bite - yes I wanted the carrots in my mouth that bad. The service was top notch! I believe it is the actual owners that serve you (along with their staff) and you can just tell how much pride they have in what they do and the service they offer :)

    I am definitely intrigued to come back and try more items on the menu - can't wait!
    That soup though *o*.. we'll be ordering some to go this coming Monday! Yassss.

    What you spend is worth every buck! The food is great and so is the service. It is a little expensive but worth it. Their colossal prawns are the best. Try to stay away from the clam with linguini. Umm.. Not very tasty. Plus, the linguini is black or purple but it doesn't look appetizing. But other than that good food. The portions are decent and they fill you up! Their bread is amazing and always warm!!! If you are in the mood to spend a little on dinner and want good food then try the Sesame Grill!

    I came here for DineLA, $25 for an amazing lunch.

    It's delicious. Everything. Starting with the piping hot basket of soft, pillowy bread that melts the butter right as you spread it on. Seriously, I ate 4 pieces of that bread. That's 2 whole baskets for myself. It was that good.

    But even though I was getting full off of the bread, I still stuffed myself with their crab cake, jumbo shrimp over the BEST jasmine rice risotto ever, and yummy creme brulee.

    I also shared my boyfriend's tuna tartare, braised short rib (so tender and flavorful), and flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.

    The waiters were attentive, constantly refilling our waters and bread basket, and the owner even came by to see how things were. She mentioned that there was a period of time where she tried to make Sesame Grill more affordable or something, and was afraid her customers were unsatisfied, so she switched back to her original menu? I dunno...maybe that's why the reviews for Sesame Grill are so low, but I definitely disagree.

    This place is amazingg! Out of all the fancy high class 5 star $50+ Dine LA restaurants I went to this week, Sesame had the best food! In flavor, presentation, service, and interior design.     Came here for the 1st time on our anniversary. Everything was great! Ambiance, food and service. Because it was in a shopping strip, I wasn't impress, but once I stepped through the door, it was very nice. Their special 3-course meal for lunch was a great price for appetizer, main & dessert!     Service is good. Desserts are to die for. Food seems fresh and much thought has been put into presentation. Sea bass, lamb chops, and duck entrees were wonderful as are the crab cakes. The dinner rolls are HOT and soft. Unfortunately, they only have wine and no cocktails drinks. Definitely a minus for me.

    I would highly recommend this place for intimate family/friend/co-worker gatherings. This place is definitely a must-try.

    Came here for DineLa and the ambiance was something i did not expect. It wasn't fancy or anything, just dim and more intimate. I got the crab cake app., filet mignon medallions, and creme brulee. The crab cake was very meaty, worth it. filet mignon was juicy, but then again.. i got med rare =). creme brulee could have been better but still pretty decent.

    Angela the owner is so gracious, she helped us celebrate my Dad's birthday, giving us a tiramusu dessert, as well as banana cheesecake, green tea ice cream! Since it was L.A. dine week, chris our waiter, as well as Angela and other staff members served us within a timely manner, everything was executed well! The escargot was so delicious, the garlic was well balanced. Of course the bread is great to dip in the garlic butter.     Complimentary dinner rolls so fluffy you'd abandon a no carb diet, huge bone marrow appetizer (amazing value for the price), honey roasted eggplant, and the best tiramisu I've ever had. So yummyyyy!!!

    Got hooked on this place because of the bomb tiramisu, but every time I come back I find something else on the menu that's worth driving the 30 miles through traffic for.

    If you get absolutely nothing else, it's worth stopping in just to try the tiramisu.

    Sesame Grill is a special restaurant to both my husband and I because this is where we had our first meal as husband and wife (well really our 1st meal should have been at our wedding, but we were both a bit too nervous and too busy to really get any food down our system during the reception). After our wedding was over, we checked ourselves into our hotel (Doubletree, we stayed here because relatives were staying at our home) and then decided to grab dinner here.

    When we came in here (on a Saturday evening, sometime after 7 pm), we were acknowledged and did not have to wait long for a table. Our server came by and as she gave us our menus, she recited all the specials of the day. She said it in a nice slow pace so that we could hear & understand what she was saying and decide if we wanted to have one of those items. She also told us the price of all of the specials. She told us that normally the other servers do not say what the pricing is, but she said it just makes sense so that you can tell how much an item is before ordering it.

    Anyways, we ended up ordering the rigotoni & lobster ravioli. My husband's rigotoni was quite meaty and cheesy, so it was a bit oily (but still rather delicious!). His rigotoni was also quite hearty and very filling. My lobster ravioli was delicious. I could actually taste the lobster inside the ravioli. Loved the cream sauce that topped the ravioli. Portions are pretty good, as we had some leftovers to take with us.

    The nice hot (and I mean HOT out of the oven) rolls we had were wonderful! We were given a basket of rolls almost immediately after we were 1st seated. The rolls had a nice crunchy top and a soft white pillowy breaded goodness inside. Since the rolls were pretty hot, I was forced to eat this slowly (which allowed for me to savor the bread).

    Service was pretty friendly and attentive. Our server and another server helping our table out were very good at refilling our beverages quickly.

    I think pricing is pretty fair, considering the quality of the food we had.

    Overall, everything was excellent and would come back here. (Well, actually I have not been here back since but plan to on our 1 year anniversary. My husband wanted to eat here again, but I told him I wanted to save it for our anniversary. So I am excited to come back here in September and look forward to another delicious meal)

    By the way, this place is located in the same plaza as Maki & Yaki and Starbucks. Parking can be a bit of a challenge sometimes because of all the other great eateries in this plaza).

    OH MY GOSH - we had a VERY stressful day and had a late night dinner here at Sesame Grill because it was across from our hotel and I'm SO GLAD we did!

    I did the "special" where you pick one appetizer, one entree and one dessert - what a deal - especially since everything I wanted was in the list and it was less expensive that way. We got the Scallops, Chilean Sea Bass and Creme Brulee. We then also ordered one of their salads which unfortunately I can't recall the name - but just remember it was AWESOME - with their home made vinaigrette.

    Everything was AWESOME and along with the very attentive and personable service - we left the restaurant full, satisfied and very happy! :)

    The Scallops were cooked perfectly - maybe a little too salty but when you eat it with the fresh hot bread that comes with the table - it was perfect!!

    The Chilean Sea Bass was outrageously AWESOME... it had a lobster sauce that enhanced the flavor of the sea bass AND the yummy mashed potatoes that was made to look like a mushroom - was GREAT. As I write this I'm starting to realize it's not just how yummy the food is but also how beautifully it was plated!! so pleasing to the tummy and the eyes!!

    And that Creme Brulee! OH MY... you could taste that orange flavor - so creamy and flavorful!! So happy even when we were full - we ended our meal with a delicious creamy orangey flavorful dessert!

    This will be our "go to" place moving forward when visiting Arcadia! A MUST try place!!

    The food is delicious and moderately priced. The gem is in a strip mall off Huntington Drive. You would not expect such a nice restaurant in it's location. The lunch specials are great! you get a choice of soup/salad and entre a dessert. The presentation is very nice. You get hot roles before your meal. They even have a full bar. I've had several meals here. You can never go wrong with the salmon or fish dishes. The desserts are to die for. I split the cobbler and my friends split the chocolate cake. They were both amazing.

    I finally got to eat at Sesame Grill again with my family tonight, it's been one of my favorite restaurants since I was little!! I live in chino hills but always want to come here when I'm able to make the drive because the food here is soooo good!

    I ordered the surf n' turf that came with a lobster tail and filet mignon medallions and oh my goooosh--sooo much food. It also comes with mashed potatoes. Yum!
    I had to split it with my father and we both had trouble finishing the plate despite how amazing it was!
    The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and the lobster tail was the best I've ever had in my life.
    My mother got the jumbo prawns with jasmine rice, which was also really good.
    Their complimentary bread rolls are so addictive.
    I always leave feeling stuffed but incredibly satisfied. Our servers Chris and Angela are the best; they're very attentive and always so accommodating! Chris is hilarious and Angela was so lovely to us. They both took care of us so well, as they always have. It just makes the entire dining experience that much better. :) The pretty hostess in the front was such a sweetheart, too.

    Ugh, I've only got good things to say about this place!
    From the food, to the decor, to the presentation and service...they get an A++ all around!

    Five star for the food. 0 star for decor. I know, they try. But I rather they take off the Christmas lights all over the place and just keep it simple. The food is good enough to draw people back. We had their prefix 3 course meal for just under $40 which is a very reasonable price considering the quality food.     My parents started taking me and my siblings to the Sesame Grill when we were just kids and it immediately became one of our favorite places to eat at. Over the years, we have continued to revisit the Sesame Grill because of their good deals (other restaurants serve similar lunch courses for at least $15 while theirs are only $9-$10), friendly service, and AMAZING complimentary bread.
    Although the menu has changed throughout the years, my old favorites have been replaced by new favorites such as their crispy fried shrimp appetizer. I also really enjoy their deserts such as the creme brule and tiramisu.
    I would highly recommend this restaurant for anything from a date to a small birthday dinner with friends & family.

    7 of us came here last Sunday night to celebrate a birthday. My husband I had been here a couple years ago but not living in close proximity to the restaurant, we had not had a chance to return. Although she doesn't know us, the lady owner greeted us like old friends and made us feel very welcome. We all selected our meals from the 3-course prix fixe menu for $28.00, which we thought was an excellent value. We had the 'yellow fin tuna tartar' and 'crab cake' for appetizers...the '36-hour short ribs', 'char-broiled beef fillet mignon' and '1lb thick pork chop' for our main courses...and the 'chocolate cake', 'flan' and 'crme brulee' for desserts. All dishes were tasty and nicely presented. One of our friends is a gourmet cook and was impressed with the quality of the food. Due to the weather, it was not a very busy night for the restaurant, so the server and the owner gave us excellent service. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience and we left with the promise that we will get together again soon as this restaurant. Thank you, Sesame Grill!

    It's a nice classic American restaurant with excellent service. It is on the pricier side, but if you order from the prix fixe menu, you get a good deal. First of all, the bread comes out HOT and it's so soft and fluffy. That's the way my family generally likes This last time, I just had the linguine and clams and it wasn't particularly impressive, but I would highly suggest getting the chilean sea bass or a steak or lamb dish. They sure know how to cook their proteins! They actually messed up my fiance's order and they gave us 2 extra desserts for free! We got to try the panna cota, creme brulee, chocolate cake, and green tea ice cream. Honestly, I couldn't pick a favorite if you told me to. They all tasted great! Overall, a great place for a date night or special family gathering.

    It's not bad but interesting experience. First of all, I guess this is a popular local spot but from the outside, I really thought it was like a fast food asian place because it was located in a strip mall. Walking in was confusing, it looked like they tried to copy the wynn's ceiling design. I felt conflicted the entire time here because it's a french restaurant but the chef and the servers were all asian. I thought it was like cantonese.

    Finally looking at the menu, you're at rest. It's a fine dining french restaurant with asian fusion. Items are on the expensive side and good enough for a nice date. Food was great and tender and well cooked. The chef came out and chatted with us as a nice touch. She noticed everyone ordered dessert except me and hooked me up! Awesome service is probably what got me.

    I was really impressed with this place. I was skeptical when I entered as there were only 4 or 5 tables filled on a Wednesday night at 8:00pm (after eating here, I would suggest that there should have been a lot more than that)! The chain restaurants in the area were all doing a brisk business...those customers should have walked across the parking lot.

    Serving sizes were perfect and presentation (which doesn't usually matter much to me) was really impressive.

    The place has a nice ambiance, but didn't blow me away. However, the service and the food were phenomenal. They have a 3 course dinner special for $30 that is worth every penny. I had the crab cake for course #1. While not huge, I think it might have been the best crab cake I have ever had. The richness made the serving size an afterthought. I was thinking at that point that I was disappointed that I didn't order multiple crab cakes for my meal...until the 2nd course arrived. For the 2nd course I chose the Filet Medallions cooked medium rare. Great portion size and melt in your mouth tenderness. A great main course! The server suggested a banana cheesecake which was not on the menu for dessert. Unbelievable!

    I travel for work around the Western US every single week and eat out at least 3 nights every week. This is one of the best meals for food and service I've had in a long time.

    When I heard of Sesame Grill, I expected Asian cuisine. From the the outside of the restaurant, it appeared like it but boy I was wrong once my dinner date and I went inside lol It turned out to be an American/Italian/French cuisine that carried a fancy ambiance with Asian waitstaff, which is a first for me :)

    The interior of the restaurant is dimly lit and the ceilings have floral displays that reminded me of the same ones in the Las Vegas hotel Encore. Lots of V-day balloons and decorations for a romantic setting too since the waitress mentioned that it would be nice for the girlfriends/wives to celebrate the occasion throughout the weekend (but what about the boyfriends/husbands? Lol).

    I ordered from the $28 prie fixe menu that includes a choice of an appetizer (crab cake), entree (beef tenderloin with veggies and mashed potatoes) and dessert (creme brle) from a select list. My fine dining date ordered from an alternative prie fixe menu and had the tuna tartar, lamb chops and chocolate cake. All of the dishes displayed beautiful presentations as if it was from Top Chef and everything tasted really delicious. I thought the creme brle was going to be warm because it would have been brled (sp?) but it was cold yet still good.

    I can't forget to mention the friendly and knowledgeable service we had. The waitress (and probably every waitstaff) knows their menu extensively and always checked up on us frequently, refilled waters and brought the food out fast.

    Overall, really great fine dining experience here. It felt really fancy for me and I would definitely recommend this place :D

    Great restaurant. On my last trip to CA I visit sesame Grill 3 times. This is a French California Fusion Cuisine. If you visit CA you most visit this restaurant. While I was there I order holiday rainbow salad, duck two way and creamboule. All I can said everything I try was pretty great.

    Came here for dinner with friends and the ambiance is nice. Casual yet intimate, this would be a good dinner date location. Customer service was great. They were very attentive, the waiter was friendly and funny. The food was pretty good too. I got a pasta dish with scallops and it was very flavorful. I got the 3 course meal that came with a crab cake that had generous portions of crab. The dessert was a chocolate cake with ice cream which was very good too. Overall, this was a really good experience.

    Went to Sesame Grill for the first time with my parents this weekend and it was amazing! We ordered the Grand Prix set 3 course meal for $28 (Atlantic salmon and filet mignon) and the Seabass. Both the salmon and Seabass were cooked perfectly, super tender and juicy. Filet mignon was also great. The appetizers to choose from are crab cakes, tuna tartar, burrata, etc. The tartar was so flavorful and tasted fresh. And they give you so much burrata.

    This place is definitely a great deal for the price. Awesome place to take family or friends for a fancier night out.

    When I first walked in I noticed this place was on the fancy side. On closer inspection I would say it's casual classy . A great date place or a place to show your parents or guests a fine dining experience Angela the owner was super friendly along with the hostess and server.

    Now the food, I came in for lunch and all I ordered was the Thai pasta salad. It's so amazing I had to yelp about it. They use filet mignon that came out super tender and juicy bursting with amazing flavors. It is made mild but you can always amp up the spice on request. I can't wait to come back and sample a little deeper into their menu. They have 3 course dinner specials and a 3 course lunch deal for around $19. The Thai pasta salad at lunch time was under $15. It's bigger than this pic shows. Hope you fellow yelpers give this place a try. Support mom and pop joints that put thought into making amazing meals.

    Came her for DineLA. Spacious amount of parking spaces. However, it was packed during the weekend. The wait was about 20-30 minutes. I ordered the Crab Cake, Pork Chop, and the Ice Cream of the Day. Good service and good food, I'd definitely will come back again.

    Came here for dineLA but ended up just doing their $28 pre-fixed dinner menu.

    I ordered the fried shrimp, filet minion and vanilla pan cotta. The fried shrimp was delicious and the cole slaw beneath it was yummy! I asked for a medium-rare filet minion, and to my surprise, it was actually medium-rare! It was delicious! And the pan cotta was yummy. The boy ordered the jumbo lump crab cake which was amazing, and the 36 hr braised short ribs, it was yummy an a teeny bit dry to the bite. He also ordered a flour less cake with ice cream, it was a bitter and salty, so if you like the savory sweet dessert, this is for you!

    Overall the foood was good, and the $28 menu really filled us up! We also got fresh bread that was really yummy.

    The staff was also really attentive and had good customer service. P.S. Apparently I was the ONLY person who made a reservation that day (the hostess told me, how embarrassing), basically this place is good and doesn't get really packed. Not too fancy, great place to dine.

    What drawn me here was the display of food art..the food was very delicious, I do recommend the pork chops. I enjoyed the crab cake..the lamb chops were okay.     Came here with my family a while ago for lunch. From the outside it doesn't look like much, especially since it's next to togo's and other small little restaurants. But as soon as you walk in, the ambiance changes and I was surprised at how "fancy" it was on the inside.

    We all ended up ordering from their ~$19 fixe prixe menu. For starters, we ordered the soup of the day, tuna tartare, and the crab cakes. The tuna tartare and crab cakes were pretty good. I didn't try the soup but my dad seemed to like it. For entrees we ordered the beef medallions, fish filet, and short ribs. Food was pretty good and each dish was nicely plated.

    Service was mixed: the asian guy (I forgot his name..) was very nice and very attentive. The other server who helped us was not as great...he gave us the wrong food, gave us the wrong check at the end, and also didn't box our food properly. The owner was also very nice and stopped by our table several times to see how we were doing. Overall, nice place and my family enjoyed it. I would give it 3.5 stars and I'll probably be back to try the other lunch specials :)

    Tried this place for the first time on Friday night and was not disappointed. The service and food were excellent!
    We ordered the crab cake and green salad to start off, the salmon and 36 hour roasted boneless short ribs for our entre, and the crme brle for dessert. It was perfection! The meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and the crme brle was the perfect way to end our meal. It was light with a lovely caramelized top layer.
    This place serves delightfully unique dishes which are beautiful and tasty!

    OMG best service I've run into these years!
    We went there as a group of eight. The waiter and waitress are all super nice, giving great recommendations and assure us the taste!
    So, my hubby ordered salad with tuna, and it's lots of seared salmon. And for my chicken marsala, i'd say it's ok.
    We shared appetizer of snails which is ok. I feel it's a bit too oily which made the snail a bit tasteless.
    The tiramisu is nice. And they gave 2 greentea ice cream as free gifts which made me super happy tho. It's yummy, i always love that icecream.
    All dishes are plated very pretty tho.
    The price is a bit pricey, but i guess with the service, it totally worths it.
    Again, people are super nice there and basically will try to accomadate with all the requests. Other places, you usually get "let me check if we can do that" or "sorry, we can't.. but..". Here, it's always "sure~ not a problem". And they helped open the door when you are leaving :o
    Really like and enjoyed the complete dining experience there.

    DineLA 2016, food was delicious! There are lots of food options for a 3-courses meal (appetizer, main course and dessert; you get to choose one from the 5/6 choices of each course. It also serve fresh hot bread before the 3-courses meal. Lunch $19.99, Dinner $29, super good deal for the amount and quality of food! I would definitely recommend my friends here especially the DineLA deal!

    This place is not what you expect. My SO came here years ago, before he met me and when we couldn't find a place that wasn't crowded for NYE lunch with the baby, he swung by here. I was thinking to myself, we're in an Asian area and you take us to a place that sounds like it serves Americanized Asian food? In a really crowded strip mall, no less. The place inside wasn't that well organized with oversized banquettes. I think they should have tables and chairs instead to save space.

    When I got in and got the food, I was impressed! It wasn't Asian food after all! Yet, served by an Asian staff. We got bread and butter before we got our food. It tasted warm and fresh. We each ordered a vegetable soup. It was delicious. Then I ordered the steak while my SO ordered the salmon. The meats were well cooked and seared. We ordered items that we could also feed our baby. We ordered the pre fixe menu which included dessert. We both ordered the creme brulee dressed with a large cookie and berries. The plates were all beautifully presented and honestly, exceeded our expectations. We spontaneously had our NYE meal with baby in tow.

    This is one of my family's favorite place to have a nice dinner. None of the dishes every disappoint and their escargot is on point! The owners of this fine establishment are very friendly and always make time to stop by and say hi.

    I highly recommend their Cowboy Steak dish, Escargot, Chilean Sea Bass (if in season), Seafood pasta, and the list just goes on. They change their menu on occasion, but for the most part there are some staple items that are always available.

    Make sure to leave room for dessert, they have some fantastic options!!

    If you're in Monrovia and want to sit and dine at a fantastic French/American fusion, this is one place you don't want to skip. Two Thumbs UP!

    This was a cool experience today had a couple of different items off the menu. The over all experience was nice the food.was decent there where a couple of utems that stood.out and some that where ok. I had the mushroom soup that i did not care to much for (im sorry butnim being honest) i also tried the shrimp rapped in some crispy strings or something with a sauce over it and that was the best thing i tried it was really good. Next i had the crab cakes and i also enjoyed that.

    For the entree i tried a chicken pasta that had a good sauce and savory chicken. I also tried the duck but it was ok i did not like it as much i was expecting too so i was alittle disappointed but it was still ok. Last i finished off with the taramisu and that desert was also ok, i did enjoy it but it was not what i was expecting. I almost forgot i also tried the green tea ice cream it had a simple taste but i really enjoyed it :)

    We came for my wife's birthday (and tried the snails). Food was overall tasty, and for a birthday the bring out a very good sized, free, Tira miss. That was very nice. I only gave 4 stars bc some of the food didn't seem as fresh as I would have hoped (which is important when you are eating snails, I think).

    I came here for dinela with my family and I was pleasantly surprised. It's located in the same plaza as Starbucks at the corner of 2nd Ave and Huntington.

    I had reservations at 7:30pm but when I got in, they haven't even seated people who had reservations for 7pm. There was definitely a lot of people inside but you can tell the owner who was in charge of seating was a bit frazzled and unorganized. My family and I finally got seated about 20 min later but food didn't take very long to arrive.

    Appetizers:
    Pork Rillets: very good! Came with some toasted baguette and is refillable. It came in a cute little jar and was seasoned nicely.

    Tuna tartare: tasted fresh and was seasoned nicely as well. Came with potato chip like things to use for the tartare.

    Burrata: burrata was nice ave creamy and was paired with red juicy slices of tomatoes.

    Main Entree:
    Maple leaf duck breast: was a little over cooked but flavors were great and portion was pretty big.

    36 hour braised short rib: short rib wasn't dry and was really tender. Came with creamy mash potatoes and vegetables. Flavors were amazing and portion was generous.

    Grilled Jumbo prawns: this was a really yummy dish as well. The prawns weren't overcooked and it came with a creamy risotto. Risotto wasn't too al dente.

    So besides the little mess up with seating and the minor over-doneness of my duck, I left very satisfied with the meal and the service.

    I cannot emphasize how great their service is here. Both times i went with my group of friends I had the same experience. It truly makes you leaving happy.

    Their food is delicious. I love that they are part of Dine LA so we get to try all the different varies from starters to the desert. Everything was presented nicely and the food was superb. Definitely recommending this place to our friends in the future.

    One time we went here for my girlfriends birthday and they brought out a cake (free) I thought that was very sweet and thoughtful of them. What a great bonus!

    I love everything here. The decor, the food and the services. The crab cake, lamp chop and the Creme brle are sooo good. The filet Mignon is a little bland but it's tendor enough that I don't reduce a star here.

    The main reason that I give them the 5 stars is their service. The owner keeps checking on us to make sure we like the food. And they are very honest. I somehow put down 83% tips (yes, I did drink that night :D) and the owner would come to me and told me I miscalculated. These are the kind of services that I need. Definitely Come back here again.

    I've been here about a dozen times, and I've enjoyed it each and every time. Portions are sizable, and the dishes are all pretty great. My cousin and I used to split a whole catfish, which was probably my favorite dish there.

    They currently have $10 lunch specials, which are super filling and give you a variety of sides, including soup, salad, an egg roll, a fried shrimp, rice, and a slice of watermelon. I got the chicken scallopini, and since I went with my family, we got 7 different lunch special dishes. Every one of us found something satisfying and filling from that lunch menu.

    My only gripe is that the dinners are a bit too pricey for me to eat at regularly, but it makes going there a treat.

    Our family comes to this restaurant whenever we are looking to splurge a bit. It is asian owned but I believe they are a sophisticated and classically trained in the French influenced cuisine they offer.

    The service is consistently good but their attentiveness depends on how crowded it is as I don't believe they have many servers working at a given time. Food is always beautifully presented and portion sizes are average.

    They did make a mistake on an order (salmon instead of tuna) but quickly fixed that for us once notified. Overall I like this restaurant. It has a small family owned feel but with sophisticated food offerings that are pretty unique.

    We love this place! Had not been here for awhile and returned for Prix Fixe 3 course menu for dinner. Crab cakes, burrata , pork chop, mashed potato, jumbo prawns, risotto, pannacotta and cremebrle with fresh berries for a reasonable $28 per person. Owner was very gracious and welcoming. Food was well prepared and delicious.

    Ambiance was nice, seems as though they try a bit too hard to impress.. Wine selection was great, with a nice variety. We ordered from the Jan. 2016 dineLA menu, which included a $29 dinner option, or a $49 dinner option. The more expensive of the two included lamb chops and surf and turf (supp. $10).

    We ordered tuna tartar, crab cakes, lamb chops, braised short ribs and rigatoni. For dessert, we had chocolate cake & creme brulee, plus a dessert port wine.

    Everything was delicious and cooked to order. We loved the wine & the lamb chops the most !

    I would recommend this place to anyone in the area, looking for a different take on Asian & French fusion.

    I came here with a friend on Monday at noon to try their DineLA lunch. It was our first time at this restaurant. It's in a plaza and there was plenty of parking. We got seated right away since the place was not crowded yet. We were served hot water and one of the cups was dirty, but we asked to switch it to a cleaner cup. As we were looking at the menu, we were tempted to try their normal lunch menu because the price seemed reasonable. But DineLA only comes a few times a year so we chose from the DineLA menu and decided to try the normal lunch menu next time. A woman who is very enthusiastic about the food they serve and cares about the customers took our orders. My friend ordered the crab cake, linguine with salmon and shrimp, and chocolate cake. I ordered the yellow tuna appetizer, 36-hour short rib, and banana cheesecake. Right after we ordered, I recognized a few voices that were coming toward behind me and then some people sat at a table next to us. And that's when I realized they were coworkers! Apparently there are a bunch of regulars at this restaurant and they really like the food and service here. The bread was warm. Crab cake was fresh, tuna was good. The chips that came with the tuna could have been fresher but it went well with the tuna. My friend's linguine with salmon and shrimp was very tasty and my short rib was delicious too. The beef reminded me of my favorite beef brisket dish at a Chinese restaurant. The portions were pretty good. I finished my dish. Then it was time for dessert! The presentation of the desserts were beautiful and they tasted good too. The chocolate cake came with a scoop of ice cream and 3 pretty colorful cones that had an interesting texture when they were eaten. I liked it. The cheesecake had fresh bananas and a blackberry on top. I liked this one too. The service overall was excellent, the waitress was very attentive and she really wants her customers to be happy with their experience at this restaurant. The decor was nice , lights were dim enough to create a nice atmosphere, while I could still read the menu, and the tables are covered with white cloth. My friend and I both agree that we will definitely be back for lunch to try the food on the normal menu.

    The service was excellent, but something about the ambiance makes it seem like they're trying a bit too hard to be fancy and to look like fusion. Something about the decor clashes and there's no "wow" factor when I enter the restaurant (pick a theme and stick to it! Otherwise it will look very tacky); to me, it's still a low-key mom and pop Chinese restaurant; but the pricing, certain pieces of decor (like the Bellagio looking ceiling and the lights on the walls), and the presentation of the food make it look like it's and upscale French restaurant.

    We came for DineLA Restaurant Week and it was a pretty good experience. However, when we arrived to the restaurant, the menu had changed a lot from what was posted on the DineLA restaurant week website. They added more options which is good (you can see the menu in my pictures below) but I noticed they downgraded the meat on one of the dishes from filet mignon to char-broiled beef tenderloin medallion. :(

    The bread they served while you waited was amazing, I wish I could've taken it home; after I ordered the second round of breads but couldn't finish it, the waiter took it away :(

    The taste of the food and the presentation were great; for appetizers, we had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake (pretty small, not that jumbo) and Crispy Fried Shrimp (fried with konafa). For the main course, we got the Grilled Colossal Prawn (I loved this dish!!) and Char-Broiled Beef Tenderloin Medallion (which was moist, but filet mignon would have been even better!). For dessert, we got the Vanilla Flan and Chocolate Cake, both of which were amazing.

    The experience was decent here and the customer service is excellent, but I wouldn't come at regular menu price. It's great to try at least once, but I wish DineLA would enforce restaurants to keep their menu the same as what they post online.

    Took my family here for a Father's Day lunch.

    A note for first-timers: this restaurant only serves 3-fixe lunch sets. You can order appetizers, chef's special, and dessert and drinks individually, but entrees usually come as a set. Family ordered the $19.95 3-fixe lunch set.

    I got the crab cake for appetizer, filet mignon, and chocolate cake with ice cream.

    Since this is a French-style restaurant, there is strong emphasis on plating. Each dish had beautiful presentation, but the taste did not live up to its presentation. The crab cake and filet mignon were not bad, but for the price and presentation, I was hoping for some extra flavor.

    The chocolate cake, however, was PHENOMENAL and the reason why I am giving this review a 4-star and not a 3. It was baked to perfection and the texture was extremely smooth and gooey, like lava cake/melted brownies. Pair it with the vanilla ice cream and your taste buds will die.

    Service was surprisingly great and efficient. Speaking from personal experience when it comes to being serviced by Chinese waiters, I was expecting minimal service. The waitress (I assume the manager), despite it being a busy lunch, was always checking up on my family and making sure we were enjoying ourselves. Another reason why this place gets a 4-star instead of 3.

    My girlfriend and I wanted to try something different and we found this place through Yelp. We didn't realize how much we'd love the ambiance, the food, and the service.

    When we first walked in, we were impressed by the look and feel of the place. It's clean and elegant. (although as the boyfriend, I readied myself for a larger check than I'd expected lol) But looking at the menu, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced everything was.

    They have two different lunch specials; both of which we'd recommend! One special is a higher end, three course meal priced at $19.99. The other is a lunch combo for $9.99.

    Regardless of which lunch special you get, it'll be really hard to beat the combination of taste, quality, and portion size.

    Overall, a surprising and incredible dining experience. (and my girlfriend was super happy!)

    Came here on a Saturday for lunch with family. I would say this place is a fusion of Asian/American. Place is owned by Asians and they speak multiple languages to help serve you better. Place is kind of dim to make it look fancy but decor could be better. However, their food and presentation were great! From their crab cakes to their curry fried pork and fried chicken, each of their dishes were delicious. They also offer you warm bread to start off with which they look like the ones you can find from Asian bakeries.

    For lunch, you can get a fixed course meal which I think is good for the price. Two types of fixed course where you can choose one that's a bit more expensive but comes with more food and dessert. They were nice enough to offer our 10 month old girl free green tea ice cream which she couldn't eat but we gladly ate it for her. The green tea ice cream was probably one of the best green tea ice cream I've had.

    Came here with some colleagues for a company dinner. I called in for a reservation for 9 people on the same day, and they kindly accommodated us.

    We went in around 630pm.

    The interior is nice and elegant. They have glass blown objects on the ceiling and lights hanging around the tables which is pleasant. A little dark though, but I guess it makes for a more intimate setting.

    The menu is pretty simple, but pricey. You can have a choice of ordering a la carte or a 3 course meal. We all ordered the : course prixe fixed meal where you choose a starter, main entre and dessert for a fixed price of $49. For the flavor of the food and the variety, I'd say it's worth the price.

    So when you first sit down, they offer you nice and warm dinner rolls. So soft and home made. Just that alone got me hooked. Lol.

    Once we ordered, it didn't take long for our appetizers to arrive. The tuna tartar was wonderful and elegant. Then came my main course. Duck cooked two ways. Braised duck breasy and the duck thigh, on the bone (confit.) It came over a sauce and sweet potatoes. The breast was moist and flavorful, however, the confit was a little salty for my taste. I really couldn't finish it because it was pretty salty. Other than that, it wasn't so bad. The portion of my plate was pretty big. But my coworker ordered the steamed fish, and to me, it was quite small, but she said it was filling and didn't really finish eating it so she gave it to me. Lol.

    Dessert came along and by then we were all stuffed. The atmosphere is great and overall, we had a pleasurable time. The waiters were nice to help us take pictures and were good with filling drinks and answering questions.

    This spot is definitely a nice place to gather friends for a good meal and have long conversations. The staff are really nice and attentive, and the menu is well made.

    This place was great...the food was right on point. The Tuna Tar Tar is amazing....the beef tenderloin is very tender and flavorable!!! Ambience quiet and laid back with dim lighting. Dessert was just right to end the night...had the Creme Brle.

    Sesame Grill far exceeded expectations. The plaza and exterior are so unassuming, but the food and plating were great. Such attention to detail, everything tastes fresh. No wonder because the yiyi (owner, I think) tells us that everything is made onsite: from rolls to pasta. FRESH ROLLS. Some upscale steakhouses don't even offer that!

    We came for a birthday, and it just so happened to be DineLA. Their prix fixe is an amazing deal with a variety of options, sure to satisfy any palette: 1 of 6 appetizer choices, 1 of 6 entrees, and 1 of 6 desserts for $20.

    I expected quality closer to Souplantation across the street for that value, but omg was it good and plated prettily. The yiyi is kind and friendly and maintains not only a great relationship with customers, but staff. The staff is great too! This is the type of business that's so easy to love.

    Our first Dine LA outing for 2016. Overall, it was a very good experience. They have 2 Dine LA menus for dinner, $29 or $49 a person. We opted for items on the $29 list as advertised. The fried shrimp appetizer was visually attractive and tasted as good as it looked. The pineapple was a good contrast for the sauce. The crab cake was good but nothing really stood out.

    The 1lb pork chop was a very good portion. It was cooked to our liking and seasoned well. The filet medallion was good but in my opinion, the pork chop was tastier.

    Service was very good. The waiter explained the specials and checked up on us. The manager/owner also came by twice to make sure we were good.

    Went here for dinela $29 menu.
    1. Crispy Shrimp Appetizer - Shrimp wrapped in thin noodle? and deep fried. Not bad but the mayonnaise sauce a little too much.
    2. 1lb Pork Chop - Wow this pork chop was tasty. Charred flavor on the outside and cooked through on the inside. The cabbage and mashed were not that memorable.
    3. Pana Cotta - Nice creamy flavor but the texture seemed too soft for this type of dessert.

    When I first walked it there was a strong fishy odor. Hope they get that cleaned up. I would be back to try other dishes.

    Hats off the the chef at Sesame Grill. I highly recommend the flau gras. It was amazing! Pork chop was tender and juicy; lamb was perfect and the sauce matched the dishes very well; fresh bread was some of the best I've had for awhile. Desert here are great as well. Service is first rate. My only recommendation to the chef is that they fine tune their crab cake recipe to include locally caught dungeness crab or rock crab lump meat. Overall experience was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. Well earned 5 stars.

    This place had been bookmarked since I moved here a year ago, and I'm glad we finally got to try it! We came here for dineLA and had a great dinner. I felt like it was a good deal ($29 for 3 courses) because it was large portions of good food! Also, the service was outstanding. All the staff we interacted with were super friendly and I felt appreciated as a customer.

    I picked the crab cake as an app, and it exceeded my expectations. The cake was mostly crab meat and there was very little filler/binder. The flavor was delicious and I liked the different sauces (even the thousand island puddle).

    The only negative: Tablemates got the yellowtail tartare, which I tried a bite and did not like. First of all, I didn't think it was yellowtail because of the bright red coloring (I could be mistaken) so I thought the menu was wrong/misleading. Second, each piece of fish had a very gummy texture because of the sticky sauce they used to make the fish stay in the cylinder shape. So odd! This detail was the only thing I did not like about our meal. Also, I'm a little wary of eating raw fish at a restaurant not serving sushi (or have high turnover).

    My short rib entree was mind-blowingly good. Forget about the knife, each forkful was so tender. I couldn't get over how large the portion was too, and I did take home half. The veggies on the side were pretty standard (broccolini, a carrot, some mashed potatoes) but overall was a good cohesive dish. For dessert, I picked the flourless chocolate cake. The texture wasn't quite right and it was more mousse than cake, but it was still a pleasant dessert. This place should take pride in the presentation of their food. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here. Oh and their bread was delicious as well!

    What impressed me the most was the friendliness of the waitress. She was attentive and took time to explain the various items on the menu in Cantonese to my parents. The ambiance was cozy and warm. In regards to the foods, starting with the appetizers: escargots were a bit too salty (there was some bitterness due to the garlic & the overloaded salt). The tuna tartar was fine. The crispy shrimp was interesting, mainly highlighted by the crispy sugar-coated thread like crisp surrounding the shrimp. The crab cake was standard, though it would be better if it was pan-fried a bit longer so the outer layer could be more crispy. The foie gras was not bad, though they could have supplied with a few more pieces of toasted bread for spreading.

    The main entrees: New York Prime Steak, unfortunately it was all cut up, which in my opinion, was unfortunate. For many steak lovers like myself, one of the joys of eating steak is the cutting it one piece at a time and then consume one small piece at a time. And since it wasn't skirt steak, it should not have been all cut up. The medium rare could be slightly more rare. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side. Not too much to comment on the 36 hour braised pork (short ribs) because it was just standard braised pork.

    The dessert: the creme brle's burned caramel layer could be rendered a bit harder. If the caramel layer could have been warmer, it would bring out the contrast of the creamy custard underneath. The custard had a heavy dairy taste. If you like the strong taste of dairy dessert, you may like it. (I personally prefer a lighter but lingering after taste, which this lacks). We also got the panna cotta. The plus is that it wasn't too sweet. It was slightly harder than pudding. The texture was about right, not too soft like pudding and more sturdy than the flan.

    Overall, the meal was standard. Yet the friendliness and the prompt service deserve praises.

    This is one of those places where the saying "don't judge a book by its cover", comes to mind. The exterior looks like some run of the mill cafes where you can grab a quick bite to eat; but step inside and it looks like a interesting restaurant!

    We each decided to order from the prix fixe menu. The cuisine was arranged beautifully, you have to eat everything with all the trimmings. The duck I ordered came with a pear and carrots, when consumed separately the flavor was lacking and odd, but as a whole, the flavors are married beautifully creating a unique culinary dish.

    I would recommend the braised beef over the steak medallions, if you're in the mood for beef. The panna cotta is also something I would recommend over the other desserts.

    The prix fixe is definitely a good start if it's your first time here. It has enough food to leave you full and happy!

    Went here for DineLA week and was already right when they opened. The place got busy faaaast.
    There are two options for the DineLA dinner menu.. a $30 and a $50. We did the $30 menu. Which was already delicious.

    Service: the servers are very friendly. They stopped by like 3x just to check on us. They're busy but attentive. they refilled our waters pretty quickly without asking for it and once we're done.. with one course they'll clean up the tables for the next course.

    Food: food looks simple from the pictures online but they are good.

    yellow fin tuna tartare, burrata, 1lb thick porkchop, shrimp&salmon pasta, penna cotta and flourless chocolate cake. Porkchop was moist.

    Overall it was a good experience. Id recommend it

    Decent dine LA experience. Dinner is $29.99 or 49.99 pricing and your choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert that they have. It's all pretty good in dining and the menu they provide is pretty good. We started off with the crab cake, and yellowfin tuna tartar. The crab meat was decent and the yellowfin was good with the potato chips they had to go with it. The entrees we ordered were the giant prawn with spinach over a creamy rice which is delicious and also the 36hour cooked short rib which wasn't too dry but it def fell off the bone. The desserts were a sweet creme brulee and a Panna cotta which was my favorite of it all.

    Didn't know this place was that good as service did a good job filling up water and bringing bread and making jokes.

    Bread here is so good not to mention the scrumptious appetizers. They have 3 course prefix menu as well as a la cart. Here is the break down:

    Appetizers:
    Crab cake - average
    Fries shrimp - awesome, it has thin crispy noodle wrap around it and serve on top of cold slaw like
    Tuna tartar - average
    Fried oyster - no comment

    Main Course:
    Filet mignon - not bad but a little bland
    Lamp chop - tender and juicing. Mint jelly was not too overpowering which goes well with the lamp. It
    has the right amount of mashed potatoes and veggie
    Pork Chop - surprised it wasn't dried and was good for the size of 1lb
    Salmon - it was okay. I had better.

    Desserts:
    Creme burlee - , more pls
    Flan - nice smooth texture. Syrup was not bitter and had the right amount of sweetness.
    Tiramisu - nothing to brag about

    Service - good services but might needs to staff up

    Overall, satisfied with our orders and the service.

    Service was great. We had a male . He was nice .

    Food was good . I think my chicken Marsala tastes more Chinese than Indian. Marsala is Indian in 95% sure. Imthen mashed potatoes were really good though!!!!

    Ahi tuna appetizer was really good fresh!

    Heard good things about this restaurant and was so happy that they were participating in DineLA.

    Came here for a party of 2 around 7pm on a weekday and we walked in and saw there were a few empty tables but wasn't sure if you were supposed to seat yourself as there was nobody in the front and there was a tall barrier that made it hard for people to see us. A few moments had passed and a server noticed us as he was dropping off food for a table.

    He walked over to us and asked if we had a reservation and we did not but said it was okay and walked us over to a table towards the back. He came back a few moments later to drop off our menus and went over our menus as well as the DineLA menu. He was really friendly and gave solid quality statements and recommendations from the Chef's Specials Menu as well as the DineLA menu.

    My choices off the DineLA menu:
    1. Yellow Fin Tuna Tartar - The texture of the tuna was different. I didn't enjoy it as much as other restaurants
    2. 36 Hour Braised Boneless Short Rib. The short rib was served on top of mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables. Would highly recommend this dish, but not the vegetables. The short rib was so savory, I wanted more!
    3. Crme Brulee - One of my favorite desserts. It was pretty tasty. Consistency in texture of crme brulee wasn't too runny or stiff.

    Sesame Grill is an American/French restaurant. The servers speak Chinese and the environment kind of reminds me of a high class Chinese cafe. I love the lunch special here! It is $10 which is cheap comparing to the dinner prices here.

    FOOD: we got the chicken katsu with curry and sole filet lunch combo. The katsu was very crispy and juicy. I also really like the salad and cheesecake here. Both comes with the lunch combo.

    Service was excellent. Our waiter was very helpful explaining the menu to us. 10/10 for service.

    All in all, I'd love to come back to try the other options for lunch combo. The excellent service + quality of the food is must go. 5 stars establishment in my opinion.

    Asian fusion very casual.
    Came here during Dine LA
    I called for reservation but seems like it's pointless because they said it doesn't matter. Waited for 15-20mins.

    First course:
    Yellow fin tuna tartars -I love tartare but I think this the my least favorite. Plating Is very nice but the taste is not appealing. And they are very stingy on the chips they only gave 3pcs.
    Crab cake is my favorite, really good.

    Second course:
    36 hours Short ribs -very tender.
    Duck two ways -a bit chewy but it's very flavorful.

    Third course:
    Dessert: creme brulee and chocolate cake
    It's okay, not too bad.

    30$ for three courses not bad at all

    The restaurant is in side the plaza. It can be busy so its a challenge to look for parking.

    In addition to their DineLA menu, they offer their own pre-fixe menu with various price points. In a small unassuming strip mall, Sesame Grill's interior is not what you'd expect it to look given its location. The ceiling decoration reminds me of the lobby in Las Vegas' Bellagio hotel and the interior looks like a quaint little bistro with romantic lighting.

    We ordered off the DineLA summer menu and chose crab cakes and tuna tartare for appetizers, linguine with manila clams and beef tenderloin medallions for the main courses, and flourless chocolate cake and creme brulee for dessert. We enjoyed it all (especially the complimentary table bread), though I'm coming to realize that flourless chocolate cake in general is not my kind of dessert.

    Excellent service throughout the meal. On a subsequent trip for his birthday with his family, BF received an entire tiramisu - complimentary! Pretty neat!
